Re: First time build ( Kidyak )

sweet. I am going to try it once I have built the boat. Knowing my luck I will burn the plans and the house down. At least afterwards I will have the boat built. Maybe no house....but I know where my priorities are. lol

U.P. Boat Show

Anyone heading to the U.P. for next weekends boat show? Family and I are heading up, but never been to it. Is it a pretty good event? Apparently the boat school has an open house as well.

Re: Boat Fasteners

Thanks for the internet sites. I was hoping to avoid the $20 shipping charges. Fastenal is right down the street but pricey.

Sabotina

Before you laugh, here me out on this one. I just received my plans for the Sabotina and have been contemplating the lumber I will use to build it. Its function will be two fold. First, this will be my first boat build so I am using it as a "model" to improve my skills for a larger project down the ...

Re: one sheet skiff

I have been following your post and I to have decided to begin my first boat build with the same project. (I purchased plans for the imp last year, but have put it off because of winter. After looking at the sites you mentioned I thought this might be better and economical for my first build.) Anywa...

Re: Joinng plywood at stem

So that 1/4 inch really won't really affect how square the transom lines up in the back? I have found in my woodworking endeavors even an 1/8 in. off can throw dimensions off.

So, would one side have to be 1/4 inch longer if using 1/4 inch ply?

Joinng plywood at stem

I have been doing my research for my first boat project and see that some plans join the plywood at the stem by overlapping the plywood and others meet the edges to form a a gap that is "covered by fiberglass"? Does it matter which method is used? I get the sense that if you overlap the plywood twis...

Weight capacity

I am in the process of researching my first boat build and 1 question I have not yet seen discussed is weight capacity regarding these boat plans. They suggest "person capacity", but I am a big man (270) and I dont want to launch only to find me and my kids standing in my boat knee deep in water. I ...
