Re: Another Vera Cruise build
Hi Carl. Planning on the same idea with the drain scuppers. As for access I am thinking a small hatch located to one side. I needed over 12 inches of fall to accommodate the electric windlass for the anchor. Ended up with close to 20 inches but that didn’t leave enough room for a usable compartment ...

Re: Another Vera Cruise build
Hi Lee. Thanks for the feedback. I drill locating holes and use nails to keep the pieces from slipping. Have tried a couple of different methods. I had good results with the circular saw attachment from west systems for scarfing 3/8 ply for the hull. I built a jig for my router that I used on chines...

Re: Another Vera Cruise build
Thanks for the well wishes. Been working on filetting (is that the right word?) the joints along the frames. Pretty tedious but making good headway. Started making the darlings today. I had made a jig making scarf joints but it wasn’t wide enough for the darlings. Tried using my planer and belt sand...

Re: Building The Vera Cruise
I have been keeping track of expenses as well. I keep a separate tally for things that are actually going in to the boat and consumables/incidentals. At the rate I am going my cost will be very similar to yours Carl.

Re: Building The Vera Cruise
Thanks Carl. I like the idea of raising the cabin roof a couple of inches but I still have plenty of time to think about it.

Carl
Near the beginning of your build you talked a bit about raising the roof for more headroom. What did your actual headroom end up being?

Thanks Jim and Carl. I am really excited about building on this side of the boat. Lots of decisions to make.
