Re: Squirt build, Snowy Mountains, Australia

Hi all. The boat building has hit a road block, it's called work! We have been working American Oak though. These images show 33 step treads and winders we are making for 3 units. I also have some photos of Aussie Blackbutt treads. That job is nearly 1000 units and they are all pre finished before t...

Re: New member from Sechelt, British Columbia.

Hi there.

I met a couple, Mary and Mark, a few weeks ago. They are from BC and spend a lot of time living on a boat. Seems to be the thing in your area! Your boat sounds great, as the others have said, love to see some pictures.
cheers

Re: Squirt build, Snowy Mountains, Australia

Have been a bit busy with life but managed an afternoon with a couple of angle grinders today. End result is the donor jet ski is in bits and i have an engine and a bunch of other components ready for grafting into my Squirt. Time to start some woodwork. Re: Key Largo build. Tahmoor (nr. Sydney) Australia

Hi Rob. I am sure Rodney and co are looking after you well at Anagote. I haven't had the Fijian mahog for awhile now but usually keep good stocks of Sapelle. Arguably a more striking looking timber and regularly quarter sawn. Deeper colour too. I am off to Europe for two weeks from Friday ( ANZAC se...

Re: Key Largo build. Tahmoor (nr. Sydney) Australia

Hi Rob With regards to resawing, get a test piece done first to see what they deliver. I am not sure straight off the saw is ever good enough. Some will do it but I don't reckon on it. Not to mention a bit of blade wobble etc. Also, looks like your boards are wider than 200mm. That is always a chall...

Re: Key Largo build. Tahmoor (nr. Sydney) Australia

G'day Rob Another Aussie boat, and local too! You have John doing a Gentry at Marulan. I am slowly underway with a Squirt as a test run for the Riviera I want to build later. If you need any assistance on the timber side let me know. We can resaw and prep boards down to 3mm. Have fun with the build....
