Re: Squirt Build Completed!

Wow! Nice looking Squirt!, you are going to love this boat. It's easy to launch, easy to drive, and easy to dock. The lines and simplicity of your build are beautiful. Have fun with it, this summer!!

Nice!!!! Great Work, G.D. That boat has beautiful lines to it, and a finish to match. Can't wait to see it at the launching ramp.

Great idea! It will look great when it's done. I've looked at your other Zip, and videos, and it was great to see you enjoying it so much. I know the feeling. I can't wait for summer.

Re: ZIP - Starting to Come Together

Hi G.D, Looking great! I used the sticks from the ceiling method, cutting them to about a 1/2" longer than needed. This method worked great, and when the sticks compressed the hardwood down, you could see the ooze of flour thickened epoxy coming out at the bottom edges. This way I knew I had a ...

Re: Building a Squirt

hi johnndeanna, yeah, they take a little more time than you expect, of course depending on how much you want to customize it, and what you expect of the boat. One thing is for sure.... itis a very cool project. The picture I've included is my Squirt, and there's probably over 1000 hours into it. Bob...

Re: All sorts of parts for my Squirt

Hi Joey, nice to hear from you again. I'll try to answer your questions in order. First your steering question. I went with the teleflex rotary system, with a 13' cable. I made the mistake of ordering a 11' cable, and it was too short. There is plenty of room under the bow for a LARGE loop, of the c...

Re: Tubby tug question. Nails?

Hi Tommy, When I built my Squirt, I used screws for everything. Nails are too permanent. A screw can be backed out if repositioning is nescessary, and IMHO, I believe they are alot stronger. Being a carpenter for the last 30 yrs, I'll tell you that nowadays we hardly use a nail for anything. Everyth...

Re: chine to sheer fairing squirt

hi yes to what Chris said... they should protrude past the frames, and when you do the actual fairing, you might be suprised at how much material is taken off. On my Squirt, I think the sheer ended up being triangular in the final shape. It was ALOT smaller than what I had started with. Also what Wa...

Re: Dash Design Decided (Finally!)

that's looking real nice, G.D. I like your whole cockpit design. The control levers at your right side, on the floor, the steering wheel on the left side, and the whole guage layout. Can't wait to see the top deck on and finished!!

Re: Building a Squirt

Hi B.M I put a 25 hp Johnson on my Squirt, found it on craigslist for $650, and have found it to be about perfect. I am 6'1" and 220 lbs... when I go out, I always take the two dogs, each weighing about 70 lbs apiece. My tank is mounted under the bow. We get on plane instantly, and do about 25-...
