Re: Bear Cat reducing hull slap questions

I apologize for my brief and perhaps curt answer. Most of our builders have never built a boat before and few are familiar with boat design. So, we are pretty conservative when it comes to changing some of the elements of a boat design. That said, it's your boat and you can do what you wish. But, t...

Re: Another Party Boat build (well, an attempt anyway)

I'm so following this. Hope you get your build started soon, I love the design and would love to build one myself.

Increasing sponson height on WildCat/BearCat

Hi, Is it possible to increase the height of the sponsons on the WildCat or BearCat designs to reduce wave slamming under the bridge deck? From the pictures of the Andy Smith Boatworks built BearCat, it seems there is next to no clearance between the water and the bridgedeck, which must cause some s...

Re: Bear Cat reducing hull slap questions

We don't recommend increasing the height of the sponsons. Sorry about the thread necromancy, but what exactly is the reason for that? I looked at the pictures of the BearCat built by Andy Smith Boatworks, and there is next to no clearance between the water and the tunnel ceiling when at rest. I sus...

Re: Build methods

Hi, I took a look at the 22' Bateau cat which you might be comparing to one of the Glen-L cats. If I'm getting this right it appears that the Bateau is not only stitch-n-glue but also a fiberglass-plywood-fiberglass sandwich construction. It also appears that that design relies at least somewhat on...

Build methods

Hi y'all, I am sure this has been discussed in length before, but I am either useless at searching, or the topic has not been brought up in a separate thread. My money is on the former, but here goes anyway. It seems to me that for amateur builders, there are two (three) main build methods: stitch &...

Re: Glen-L Party Boat

Christer Looking at the armrest on the helm seat, I guess the depth at about 28". You could put a handrail above that. Bill Bill, Thanks for that. 28" should come in at around 71cm or so, and a handrail on top should then be enough to keep the kids inside the boat when at rest/fishing. They are alr...

Re: Glen-L Party Boat

I like this design a lot, but I'm not sure if the cockpit depth is sufficient to keep kids on board. The writeup says hull depth is 3'8", so I'm thinking the cockpit depth is about half of that?
