Re: Outrage progress
I used System 3 clear over cured epoxy several months ago. I am seeing cloudy spots starting to appear. The epoxy was well seasoned and sanded to 320 grit. It has been looking real good up until the last couple of months. Anybody else had any issues using 2 part System 3? Don’t know if you can see t...

Re: Cutting the transom at angle
I used my jig saw after adjusting the plate to 12*. The plans were spot on. Didn’t have any issues. The 2 outer 3/4” plies and the inner framing sections all lined up good and then a little touch up with a plane and Shinto saw rasp. Steve

Re: Outrage progress
Thank all of ya’ll for your concerns. Go for an echocardio scan Monday. Put me on Plavix. No brain bleed. Everything is about back to normal. The boat was going slow but it has really slowed now. Finding parts for an old Mercury and the MerControl has been interesting. Just got the starter overhaule...

Re: Outrage progress
Slow go. My brother helped me put the motor on. Got all the registration papers in and got the HIN’s. Wasn’t happy with the seat arrangement so that is still going on. The motor was more or less donated but it had to be completely rewired. Still have not got it cranked. I have a crank but no start s...

Re: Mist Miss - Desert Build
Hindsight on my chines, I should have laminated. Bending white oak that thick was not an easy feat. The sheer was so easy because that thickness x’s 2 bent so much better. Rita of passage is the proper statement. Looking good. On the holes you filled with the bungs, I simply used epoxy only slightly...

Re: Outrage progress
I got one from Amazon. I was trying to give Glen-L the business. Thanks for the replies. Now for a little cooler weather with a few less mosquitos. Steve

Re: Outrage progress
Getting real discouraged. I have been at a standstill on the boat. I have had the steering wheel and assembly ordered since July the 2nd. I have been thinking of calling Glen-L and cancelling the order and just going to a junk yard. But you always get what you pay for. Where did you guys get your st...

Re: Stiletto from MD
Yes. Like Hoodman, I had to laminate some to the chine. It helped me to draw a dividing line down the chine. Top half for the chine to keel... bottom half from chine to sheer.

A good link here

In this pic, you can see additional meat laminated between frames 4 & 5. You fair so much, you start getting into the bronze screws.

Re: Stiletto from MD
From the pic, the sheer looks like you need to fair more. Use a piece of 1/4” ply and lay across the chine and sheer and look for gaps. I had to laminate another piece on my sheer between the forward frames( the planes called for it) because you fair so much, it gets really thin. Like Jimmy said, it...

Re: Mist Miss - Desert Build
“The one gross thing is wearing latex gloves for epoxying. Just rivers of sweat running down my arm within minutes. I've even borrowed my son's little league sweat bands, just to keep from dripping onto the boat! Gaaack!“ Yes, you can pour out a cup full when you take your gloves off. I was painting...

I can’t imagine those temps. Here in Ga we have been in the mid 90’s for some time and the humidity has been unbearable. I drip water like standing in the shower. Your build has been quiet interesting.looking good. Scarf joints were very fun for me too. Steve

Re: Outrage progress
Thanks guys. I like the half-round rubber idea. I have been waiting on my steering wheel assembly from Glen-L so I have not made my dash yet. Apparently it has been back ordered. The clear gloss and another quart of white 2 part paint came in. The center section is sanded waiting on the clear gloss....

I even have to pre-drill when driving the bronze nails. Goes through the plywood fine until it hits the oak. Steve
