Malahini Transom question

Happy Christmas to you all! Quick question about the transom on a Malahini. I cut the motorboard to 15'' as per the plans, and only later realised the new motors will need 20''. Would it be okay to just glue on an extra piece on top of the motorboard, to make up the required thickness ? Also, for so...

Malahini next step

Hello! After many years (!) of working on my Malahini (it was upside down in my garden for a long time), it's now happily on a trailer. Would you suggest I do a good job with sanding the inside, and encapsulate it next, before carrying on? Just looking for a few encouraging tips, as I've been out of...

Paint and Varnish

Hello,

I've finished with the epoxy (West System) and would like to paint my Malahini hull black, then varnish.

What do I need to buy? A primer of some sort? Marine 'black paint' ?

It's a bit confusing with so many products out there, so any tips would be really appreciated.

Thank you.

Malahini skeg dimensions

Hello everyone,

This should be an easy question.

I've finished fibre glassing, so about to start attaching the skeg to my malahini.

I'm unclear about the dimensions of the lumber I need to buy as it's not indicated on the Bill of Materials.

Thank you, and Happy Christmas !

Side planking problem

I messed up when putting the side planking on. From the transition joint up to the stem, the side planking is only on the chine by a 1/4 of an inch (around 20''). As I was screwing the side planking onto the boat, and I realised what was happening, I couldn't undo it, as the screws wouldn't undo. No...

Batten notches

I forgot to make the batten notches in the battens at the transom.

What tool would you recommend I use to make them, as I've already planked my Malahini?

Re: Incorrect transom angle on Malahini

I thought I had it wrong, as measured it from a different position.

I've posted two pictures.

Either I have the angle very right, or very very wrong!

Incorrect transom angle on Malahini

Hi,

I seem to have ended up with an incorrect transom angle on my Malahini.

It's 11 degrees, and obviously should be 13.

I intend fitting a long shaft Merc 60hp, and this states 13 degrees.

How bad will this mistake end up when it's in the water?

Re: Fibre glassing hull

Ahh, found it on the Glen-L website.

So 2 #2 kits @ 1.2 gallons each.

So I'll need the equivalent of 2.4 gallons or around 10 litres.
