Re: Count Down

Bill, Neel, et al; We just booked floating cabin #8. Looking forward to seeing you all there, having spaghetti on Thursday night, and having a few beers. We will be taking our Malahini on the river run and have room for two ( or three if needed). I spoke with Hanna and she said there are still 5 one...

Re: Enjoying our Malahini

Looks great. Nice job. I believe that is a Washington registration. Where do you keep and run your boat. Our kids live in the Seattle area.

Re: MI Malahini Build, Post Flip.

Looking good. I think 18 gal. is a good size. I have 14 and wish I had a bit more. The engine will look great and perform well. I had a '73 650 Merc at first. It started and ran well. However, the Captain didn't like the noise and smell of a two stroke so we went to a Yamaha 4-stroke. Heavier, but v...

Re: Biss's Malahini Build

Looking very nice. This is bringing back lots of memories of my build, going through the same issues, questions, and resolution. I was going to have hinged seats, back rest brackets, etc. In the end I did none of it. The seats just have a block of wood on the bottom to hold it in place. The back jus...

Re: modified malahini

Congratulations on the flip. It goes fast and easy if you have enough hands. Boat is looking good. I will be interested in how it performs and handles waves and chop.

Re: 16' Ski Boat Restoration

Jim,
I had some problems with the quick disconnect connectors from genuinedealz.com
They worked loose and fell off. Most of yours are bolted down, so no problem there.

Re: Engine height

Just a followup. My bolt holes on the motor bracket are 3/4" apart and not the 1" I estimated. So, I moved the motor up 2 holes for a 1.5" extra height. This puts the cavitation plate on plane with the bottom. This should reduce the drag of the motor plate when on plane. At G12 I tried it for the fi...

Re: Engine height

The engine currently rests on the transom but I believe it is really held by 4 large bolts. It could be suspended above the transom if necessary. However, I would cut some oak blocks to put under the engine shelf. I will have an issue with the steering. I had to cut a notch for the current configura...

Engine height

I built my Malahini with the standard 20" transom height. My 70HP Yamaha 4-stroke has a height of about 21.5", so the cavitation plate is under water when planing. The bolt holes in the bracket are 1" apart. So, if I move it higher, I would either have the plate above the water (2 holes up) or sligh...

Re: Food

Do you still need some breakfast items?
Jim Jathro and I can do waffles and sausage on Friday and Saturday AM. We have done this in the past but there seems to be a lot of breakfast options.
If we have enough breakfast, we could do something else.. Let me know.

Bill,
Jim Jathro's (TwoJs) friend cancelled and I moved up to cabin #10.

This means #13 may still be open.
