Re: Building The Vera Cruise

No new pics today because I am still in encapsulation mode. But getting in some time everyday again. This is one of those stages of the build where it feels like nothing is getting done, but I know it is. In the scheme of things, encapsulation coats are fairly significant steps, but man!!!! :l...

Re: 16' Ski Boat Restoration

Looking good Jim. I think these fiberglass/wood hybrids look decidedly cool. A way to get something different than the normal and one which will garner lots of questions.

Looking great Steve. Are you building the interior to plan or deviating?

Re: Matt's Geronimo

Matt, quick work on the motor well. Looks good. I am anxious to put this in, if for no other reason than to feel like I am more faster progress, but getting into my boat is a challenge if there is anything blocking the back. It'll probably be one of the last things I put in before the splash, we'll ...

Hey Tim, you could put armor plate up front. !!  Seriously, I think either safety or tempered will be fine. Unless you take it out in rough seas, I doubt you will ever get any kind of a wave over the bow strong enough to break it. A friend of mine has a 28 foot BlueJacket with tempered gl...

Re: vupilot's Zip for sale

Good luck with this Chris. I've mulled over options for how I will be using my boat (when I get it finished). The original plan was a trailer and take it to the lake whenever I want to use it. But lately, I am considering the marina approach and in fact even considering retiring in a condo near a ma...

Regarding hinges, at the risk of being off the wall (and off the mark)  Would European hidden style hinges work in this application? Finding them in stainless might be a problem, but there would be nothing above deck. I have no idea if these would work or not, but they come in a fairl...

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

I was able to finally get to the boat today. Sure hope next week is better . I mostly did encapsulation, but had to do some final trimming on the port floor board first. It's now curing wit the initial seal coat of epoxy. Tomorrow, I will lay down a sheet of Fiberglas cloth. I trying to get the cabi...

Re: Chugalug's BoJest

Bow light and my anchor well are going to be a tight fit, but I think I can make it work. Anchor well will have hatches hinged on the centerline and the bow light will be mounted between the hatch doors. We'll see when I get to that part of the boat. Haven't even faired the foredeck yet!

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

Thanks Billy and Jim. The paint scheme was something I came up with about 3 years ago and then with the help of a few people here on the forum, it was tweaked to its present form. Still pretty busy with work, but getting a few things done. Had to do a bunch of epoxy clean up so that was done yesterd...

Denzil, this same thinking is why I am writing my maintenance manual as I go. I know that if I don't, it will never get written. :D :D
