Re: Building The Vera Cruise

Carl,

Your progress is looking great... I know the feeling of burning time without seeing much change. It's all good :D ... the list of things to do gets a little shorter with every step forward!

Re: Klondike Build

Thanks Carl and Billy! The interior will be very close to the plan, except for a few changes in the galley (frig in place of separate door to main cabin, sink against port wall in place of door to side deck) and helm (steps to flybridge in place of hanging locker for foul weather clothes, console fo...

Re: Klondike Build

Thanks guys. Matt, unless we're up on the flybridge I think the wheelhouse will be the best place to be while underway. The seats are raised just enough to let you see what's going by. Chug, the table will be on a telescoping pedestal so it can be dropped to seat level if needed for sleeping space. ...

Re: Klondike Build

Bob, Thanks for your kind words. I didn't realistically anticipate the time involved to complete this project, but thankfully have been able to keep it moving forward over the years. I have greatly appreciated the helpful encouragement and inspiration from this forum. In any event, it's good to be g...

Re: Klondike Build

A brief update... The helm seating area is framed in and also have started roughing in the galley cabinets. My wife has shown more interest in progress lately and has been a great help in working out details of the galley and cabin joinery. :D Helm seating frameup.jpg Galley2.jpg Regards, Steve

Re: Matt's Geronimo

Matt,

The dash and switch layout looks great! The framing in place gives a nice preview of the curve of the deck :D

Re: Matt's Geronimo

Thanks Matt, It's true there were several different DC & AC voltages to deal with, but it's not so bad if you take one circuit at a time starting with the main DC and AC ground circuits and then adding breaker and distribution panels as needed for the service areas. Wire size needs to be appropr...

Re: Rudder size for inboard Zip

Sproggy, I've seen that formula used before... assuming about 14' length and 10" draft for the Zip (guessing typical load, at rest) I'm coming up with about 56 sq. in. for the calc but I think you'd be Ok north of that number. Or if you figure roughly 12" for prop diameter and 2 to 1 aspec...

Re: Klondike Build

Bill,

Looks like Mother Nature can be pretty unpredictable just about everywhere... after a fairly dry (up to now) winter, we got 7" in about 45 minutes last night. Thankfully tornadoes are rare as hen's teeth in California... knock on wood!

Re: Klondike Build

A very brief update... flash flooding from a rain storm last night knocked out the bridges on the road to the shop. So had to cancel today's work and wait for road repairs to restore access to the project :? This may be the only progress pic for a while... just getting started on railing fabrication...
