Here's a vintage aluminum runabout... sort of the same idea. Adapting the Barrelback plans to aluminum would be a project in itself but would make up into a really unique build.

One other thought which could allow in-hull mounting of the transducer would be to make a solid plug from GPO-3 slightly larger than the transducer and fiberglass it in place after cutting away the same size hole in the plywood. Lots of work (!) but might be acceptable if you really want to shoot th...

Wouldn't recommend in-hull transducer for plywood. See if you can accommodate a through hull unit with appropriate fairing.

A few pics for the weekend: Much time is being spent pulling wires and sorting out plumbing, but seeing some progress... House batteries are now installed in their final resting place but only 1 pair has been wired up so far. Will get the rest done over the next week or so. House batteries in place....
