Re: Gentry in Minnesota

I made a pattern out of cardboard and transferred it to a piece of 14 ga (maybe 16, can't remember)mirrored stainless steel. Tacked it together, making sure the bow angle (left, right) was maintained.

Re: Roberta's Torpedo

Roberta- The rush you will be experiencing with that first neutral to full open on the water NEEDS to be documented and shared with the rest of us who have followed this amazing build. Congratulations doesn't quite seem to cover it!! Rich will need to be the "I'll answer all the questions"...

Re: Roberta's Torpedo

I used those fender cleats on my Gentry and really like them. Low profile and out of the way. Fenders only. Roberta, your build is spectacular!!

Re: Making progress on my Monaco.

Hi Skip- I found the price of a 600# furniture dolly was about the same or slightly cheaper than the cost of a single swivel caster wheel, so I ended up buying those. Now that my boat is done, I have four dollies that I've used often since. Worked fine. Bob's idea of attaching the two together is gr...

Re: Making progress on my Monaco.

Skip- Nice choice on bottom color. Looking good!. I was so happy to get that bottom paint on as well. Keep your eye on the prize, 'cause driving it is even more fun than building.

Hi Bill- I bought my ss strip for my Gentry from these guys. less expensive and we worked out a good shipping detail (they cut it down to fit max shipping size). http://store.hamiltonmarine.com/browse.cfm/half-oval-ss-hollow-back-.077-x-1-x-8-147359-/4,5911.html or http://store.hamiltonmarine.com/br...

Re: Roberta's Torpedo

I was able to get the bends I wanted on my covering boards by immersing 5/8" x 1" X 20' Philippine mahogany, one at a time into an inclined 2" pvc tube, capped on one end and filled with water for eight hours. I took them out and clamped them into place and let them dry. Slight spring...

Re: Roberta's Torpedo

I have a friend who works in the HVAC field and he gave me the straight lengths of the copper needed for my system (I had to buy the elbows). The pipes coming right out of the engine are a nice foot warmer in the fall. Not too hot, not too cold. In the summer, there is enough air moving as not to no...

Congratulations Wayne.

I too, have enjoyed your very detailed posts. It has been interesting to follow your head-scratching moments on the way to the solutions. Have a blast with the new boat. Well deserved!!
