Re: Any thoughts on this Marine Ply?
I did a bit of research on it (as I'm sure you have).
I recognized a species of wood in there which is the same as Auqatek--a trusted marine ply.
It looks ok to me, but without some first hand testimonials, I'd limit it to a lower performance hull.

Re: Glen-L Party Boat
The manner in which the artist rendered the finish give the boat pleasing lines and appeals to both a classic and a modern eye (provided some bright work is included). Had the digital artist chosen to hang classic outboard of the stern, it would have had a much different visual effect as well. I sus...

Thanks guys.
I think I might paint the bright worked areas and see how that looks.

The time has come...
In early July, I pulled my boat from Kansas to Idaho where we now live. During the very complex move, it sat outside under a cover for 3 months in the mostly dry Idaho climate. It was an uncommonly hot summer. Now that the Zip is in the garage, I notice some wear an tear on the top deck. The bright ...

Re: Trasom Drains: Yea or Nay?
Water WILL get in your boat, and sponges will NEVER get it all. This is part of building a boat gang. Have the confidence to do it, and develop the competence to do it right. I drilled my holes, put on rubber gloves, ensured total encapsulation of all exposed wood (per the book) and set my brass tub...

According to multiple sites, Triple towing is not permitted in NC.

This link shows pictures of my former set-up: https://www.glen-l.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=29519 My camper was 18 feet (20 with hitch). My Zip is 14 and change (18 with swing away tongue and hitch). I too have a Dodge. Overall length came in over 63 feet (65 is maximum in Kansas and many o...

I wonder if that is the new Loehl kit.
I like British planes so much, I put a ring handle on the control stick of my Airbike.

Hello my friends, It's been a while. As some of you may recall, my wife and I were planning to relocate to Idaho from Kansas. It's been two months since we made the trip. Wow! What a colossal undertaking! I had posted some stuff about changing the axel on the Zip trailer in order to double tow (need...

For that boat: I'd choose single gusset full lap joint or the double gusset butt joint as Roberta pictured for you. You could go for a routed half lap joint with double gussets for what might be optimal strength, but be sure to cut the bottom member a bit short to keep any end grain away from the si...

Re: Upholstery for the Beginner
I did my own after watching numerous videos on youtube.
Its not good, but it works, and I can say that my boat is 100% sole-authorship.
That was important to me.
If you use staples at all, be sure to buy stainless!
