Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

I finished the second layer of 6mm Okoume ply on bottom this morning. Some sanding and then on to the second layer on the sides.

Re: Count Down

New owner has not contacted me yet. I will make a point of getting in touch with him this week. Sounds like we lost some flexibility. Let me see how I make out. Maybe he needs to look at what our group does for his business in "Slow" September and lighten up a little on the deposit/refund policy. I ...

Re: Count Down

I spoke to Tony again last night. He will have the new owner call me when he gets back to Chattanooga within the next few days. I think he needs to know how significant our group is to his September business. This deposit thing is not that big of a deal, but it is somewhat annoying. Let me see what ...

Re: Count Down

Tony is still there and will remain at the store till the end of the season. Then the new owner will be taking the store over and Tony will have to find new employment. I think as he gets to know Tony and realizes how valuable he is, things may change. They have also hired a new manager for the mari...

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

I am officially back to working on the PB. I have been gluing more 6mm Okoume pieces on the bottom toward the bow. The two I just put on are about 6" wide and I think after two more of that size go on, I will have to cut the width down to about 4". And then it doesn't take long to get down to 2" rig...

Re: Michael's ZIP

I love it Michael.... From the drawing it looks like you may have moved the dash and forward cockpit slightly aft from the plans. I think a 90 ETEC would look great on the back along with a "disappearing hatch" over the rear seat. Maybe 90 is a liitle much. Better go with a 70 !!

Carl... One more thing... Put the clips that hold the stringers tight to the frames on the outboard side of the stringers in the motor bed/motor area

Re: Somerset, KY Gentry

Sorry for the lousy picture, but I think you get the idea..... I have started back up on the PB 22, but still a little chilly in the garage. I hope to finish the second layer of cold molding on the bottom within a week, and then outside for sanding before starting the sides.

Re: Somerset, KY Gentry

Carl,,,, If you space the stringers 26" inside to inside, you will have room to put any engine of your choice. What actually happens is you will be mounting some kind of motor support (metal or wood) on the inside of each stringer to actually support the motor. I used quarter sawn oak for this, but ...

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

We got back to PA about two weeks ago and it has taken us that long to get things put away and back to normal. It has also been quite cold so I haven't had a great desire to spend time in the garage. It is warming up now and I have moved the boat and work tables back into the "boatbuilding position"...
