Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

Thanks Bryan. It was great seeing you yesterday. I have been busy since Bryan left. I got the third coat of epoxy on the stringers last night, and this morning I set the frames and bow section where they belong. I am really impressed with the way everything fit into the notches. The measurements fro...

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

I picked up the stringers on Thursday. They have been tapered at both ends per plans and the main frame notches cut to depth. The frames have been spaced to provide a stretch of 8 3/4" . So it will be a "Palm Beach 22.75". Tomorrow they will get the third coat of epoxy and then be rea...

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

I just talked to them.... Their lumber guy went home sick today. She said she told you yours would be ready tomorrow, but that may not happen now. She said she would let me know tomorrow when mine will be ready.... I will send you a PM as soon as I find out....

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

Bill... Here is a picture (may be upside down) of how the stringers along with the attached "bow jig" will go on the cart... The jig, forward of the stringers will support the entire bow section and stem until the keel is on. There will be a 2x6 extending 5' past the front of the cart, bol...

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

I have glued frame 1 and 1.5 to the stem, so the bow section is finished with the exception of the upper breasthook. Everything has been aligned and checked for plumb. I also finished the building form cart yesterday. After I get the stringers, I will have to tweak the uprights so everything is stra...

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

ONE STEP BACKWARDS--- Someone posted something recently, reminding us that when a mistake has been made during the building process, fix it right then and don't wait till later. Well those words have been rolling around in my head for about a week now. When I glued frame one to the stem, it was out ...

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

Bryan... Let me know when you are going over to pick them up. Maybe I could get my stringers the same day and we could do lunch ??

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

Bryan ...... Their turnaround is usually about 4 to 5 days, but I told her "no great rush" on the stringers. That may have been a mistake !! I ordered them about 2.5 weeks ago. One thing for sure... They will be perfect whenever they finish them.... Your lift strakes should be a very easy ...

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

I have finished building the building form cart with the exceptions of a few nuts and bolts that I have to get. I also figured out how the bunks will go on when I make it a rolling cradle. I had some bunk support brackets left over from something and I think they will work out fine. Still waiting fo...

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

Thanks Tom and Carl.... I should be finished with the cart tomorrow and be totally finished with the bow and frames by the end of the weekend. It really is great to be retired and spend as much or as little time as I like on the boat each day. Bill..... Spring is hear finally... Wheels will be fine ...

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

I have been working on the bow section and almost have that finished. All frames have been encapsulated so I started building my rolling building form cart. It will also be transformed into a rolling cradle after the flip. The cradle I built for the Gentry fell apart on me one day because I used lag...

Re: Monte Carlo... is it the right choice

4th Bob...... There is another Bob (Smith) here on the forum although he hasn't posted much lately. You should check out his build thread ("The Epiphany"). He took a deep V fiberglass boat and cut the bottom off at the waterline. Then he used Glen-L plans (I think) to build the mahogany to...

Re: Neel's Palm Beach 22 build

All nine frames and nine mid frames have been encapsulated with three coats of epoxy resin.... I have attached frame two to the stem. I glued frame one and the chine breasthook to the stem yesterday. So tomorrow I will attach the sheer breasthook and frame 1.5 to the stem and the bow section will be...
