Re: Stretching out the beam?

I started teaching myself CAD in about 1992. The team I worked with was the first in the SE USA to do an entire power plant in 3D. That is the only way they will do it now. That said, there is no substitute for the human eye. The computer can't say that that just doesn't look right. As you work thro...

Steve

Without a lot more info, I don't have a good Idea. I could make a good tugboat, limited to hull speed at 8.5 mph. Or, a trawler at about 18-20 mph. In planning hull maybe 25 to 27 mph. Gearing and prop are going to be a trick. It will be hard to get enough shaft rpm to get much speed.

She looks great! Sure is fun when you get that first clear coat on and you step back! You think, "DAMN! I did that!".

I don't know what kinds of water you run in. But, our depth can change quickly. I sure feel better with a simple depth gauge as you're showing.

Re: plans arrived

Searay85 I think the 351 will work fine. Inboards aren't too sensitive to engine weight. Many people run more HP than I would. These boats were designed to run, mostly, under 40. Under rough conditions and too fast they can get dangerous. Have fun with the build! And, post often with pictures! We li...

Sorry that no one has jumped in on this. YES, you can do it! We'll be here all the way. Look at my Tahoe link below. It will pretty much walk you through the whole build! Have fun and post pictures!

Re: Hi Malcolm from Norfolk (UK)

Malcolm, The BB and Tahoe 19 are very close in size. Garage doors here are usually 9'-0" wide and 6'-8" high. Standard trailers here are 8'-6" wide. Top of rear bunks are 24" off the ground. There was no problem getting the Tahoe in and out. When I built the Bartender, I only had...

Re: Staying On Forum

Steve All builders are welcome here! When I started the Tahoe it was not part of Glen-L. My Bartender is not a Glen-L design. Neel's PB-22 is not Glen-L. Vupilot's utility is not Glen-L. We all want to encourage you to buy from Glen-L! This forum is a lot of Glen-L's tech support. We all want you to...

Lots of things to think about. I'm not a Marine Arch or Eng. I don't work for Glen-L. There are things that I might try. But! I can't tell someone else to do!

Re: Stretching out the beam?

You are correct the physical boat will just be larger. But, the displacement capacity of the boat will go up much faster than the weight of the boat.

Re: Stretching out the beam?

There is another thing to remember when scaling up! A 1.062 scale up is 1.062x1.062x1.062. The boat is now 20% larger in volume.
