Re: bow eye

Tony

I know that there are a lot of shallow angle ramps down there. A lower eye would give you a better pull angle.

Carl

I have the BayStar. The only issue is how far it project from the helm. But, not a big problem. If you go with a new engine check with them before filling the hydraulics. They told it was easier for them to fill and bleed the system than to deal with a full system.

Re: Zip Floor

The cabin sole for the Tahoe is on top of the engine stringers. It seems very shallow. I lowered the sole 2" between the stringers. It makes a much more comfortable position and the cockpit feel much larger.

Roberta, I had not notice the 2 cat food dishes in the back of your Zip before.

Re: bow eye

Tony Great to see you on. This is a which came first the chicken or the egg question. If you have a trailer and the winch is not adjustable, match the trailer. If the winch is adjustable, put the eye where you want it then match the winch to it. Some people have a tall winch and don't have a bow eye...

When you decide to go for one of the "bigger" boat, go for it. We're all still here. Build what YOU want.

Re: Woodworking bench

For most boats I would make it at least 4'x8'. I made mine 5'x8' for the Bartender. I used 1/2" ext. for the top. I clamped it to an 8' folding church table that I have. I did all my frames on it. You definitely want an overhang all around for clamping. When the hull was turned I started cutting up ...

Well... I don't always fill the tank. I use Sta-Bill. I was just putting out recommended practice. I do have fuel/water separators and filters. I have never had to drain them.

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

Carl There are several stations in B'ham that sell it. That doesn't help you. It's pretty common on the coast. It's at marinas and regular stations. Yes, it cost a little more. It does give a little better mileage. Not enough to justify it in you truck. It is the best for stored fuel. I paid $2.10/g...

That should be a great system. We used that approach on power plants in salt environments. On metal, remove as much loose rust as possible, CPES, 2-Part epoxy paint, and then PU paint for UV protection. This also use in offshore work.
