Re: Klondike Build

In Gulf Shores, we had someone spill a little gasoline in the marina. This old biddy saw the guy squirt a little Dawn to get rid of the sheen. She called the USCG to report him. The coast guard guy told her, "Lady, that's what we use."

Re: G-12 Gathering 2018 Dates and Location

8 MONTHES TO GO!

I know that seems a long time. But, for you frozen Yankees, you don't have a lot of working time. (I hope that comment doesn't knock me out of the next Presidential race.) Anyway, there are a lot of boats in the works that I want to see!

Matt

I use thickened regular epoxy. I wet the back of the new strip with plain epoxy, then thicken and put on the base.

This is why it is important to put your location in your profile.

The other one that goes with this is... The length of time you keep something is inversely proportional to the length of time that you will need it, after you throw it away!

I've pretty much reached the same conclusion.

Well... except that piece of plywood over in the corner.

Matt

The beam is widest part of the boat. It is at the side/deck intersection (shear). On most boats it is at the frame that the helm is mounted to. Seven feet will be tight. But, it can be done.

Speed

Contact Fergal Butler. He can answer any question and a few you don't want to know. He got caught out in really bad conditions and his boat ended lost on the bottom. He's a great guy though.

That is what I did. Make joint back in the flat area. A butt plate over the first splice is a good idea. the outside planking will reinforce the outer layer of the keel.

Re: Squirt, Solid knee, Stem, Transom, and Breast hook?

Jake

My Bartender has 3 layers of solid lumber for the stem w/staggered splices. The Tahoe stem is 2 layers of lumber and 1 layer of 3/4"ply. I see no reason that the breasthook and knees could not be built up from solid pieces.
