Re: Windshield questions

Jim Mine come straight out. I went 3" or 4" above the bracket on the Tahoe, see link below. I have 1/4" tempered glass. A flat rubber gasket wraps the edges at the brackets. I put soapy water on the gaskets then inserted into the bracket. When dry I trim the excess gasket with a razor...

The write-up says anywhere from 65 to 200 HP. I think 150 would really fit!

I had surgery on Tuesday, 11/14. You talk about pain Tuesday night and Wednesday! Had to sleep in my chair all blocked up so I could not move. Lauren said that she had not seen anyone leave the hospital in that much pain without a baby! Thursday morning I quit the pain meds. They became worse than t...

You can do it! This is certainly not first time build! My approach would be to cut fat, then use my belt sander to cut off the stuff that is not boat.

Re: Biscayne 22 vs Belle Isle

Pat I don't see much difference in the running surface. The Belle seems to have a little more round transom, barrel. The Biscayne has a little blockier transom. That might but you an 1" or 2" width in the rear cockpit. No handling or performance difference. Just a matter of taste. On both ...

Joe

If your engine will turn 4800, I assume it's not diesel. At 10 knots, that's about 65% of WOT. That is about right for gasoline. Diesels at 80-85%. The prop estimates should be good as starting point. Cruise RPM should bee about 2875.

Re: Gear ratio....i'm so lost

Joe

With a 2:1 ratio and 4600 RPM, I'm seeing a 16x11 prop. 16x10 at maybe 4800 and 16x12 at maybe 4400.

Let me try a different approach. What RPM is the max Torque and continuous operating RPM? That should be near the cruising speed. Boats are really about torque not ultimate HP.

Re: Gear ratio....i'm so lost

What Ken said. Plus, depending the exposed shaft length you may want to consider a whip strut.

Re: Glen-L Party Boat

Actually, I would love to build this boat, now. But, time and sensitivity to epoxy don't make it possible. I need to finish and run what I have!

Joe

Check with the prop-shops on the shaft dia. 1 1/8 may be plenty. 3000 RPM gives a blade tip speed near 200 MPH. After that you can get blade tip cavitation on a 16" prop.

Re: Gear ratio....i'm so lost

Joe I'm no expert on these hulls, for sure. I don't know about HP on these boats. But, you will be looking for a shaft RPM of 3000 w/16" prop. That gets you to a 1.5:1 gear. A 16" prop you will probably need a 1 1/4" shaft, maybe 1 1/8". I think a starting point on the prop would...
