Re: Malahini Bow Rider porpoising

Rob Since you added seats up front I don't think there was that much weight lost up there. Put your sons up there and see if there is a difference. I don't believe in using to fuel tank as ballast. It's weight is always changing. My thought is that 26 gal is a lot of fuel/weight for a 60 hp. It does...

Re: Key West design speed in knots

Rick

I used the displacement weight. Displacement is the max. safe design weight of everything, the boat, people, gear, engine, fuel... Think it was 4000#.

Re: Neeley's Barrelback - Sacramento

I have a steep drive onto a steep hill! I have also bent a prop on a curb. Yes! I would have them.

Re: Neeley's Barrelback - Sacramento

The casters are a good idea. I don't have them on the Tahoe trailer. When I go down my drive the rudder is less than 1" of the drive. I have scraped it. If I use a long drop hitch, I hit the spare tire on the drive at the top of the drive. When I bring the boat home for the Gathering, I rent a ...

Re: Key West design speed in knots

Rick The Key West at max weight and 300hp could run about 45 MPH or 39 knots. You said 1:1, I don't know your WOT for that engine. About the max shaft RPM for a 12" dia.. prop is 4000. It's about 3700 for a 13" prop. After those numbers you start getting blade tip cavitation. You could go ...

Re: Thinking about first build - Tahoe vs Monaco

Jim

The Tahoe is just smoother. It rides more like a modern car than an old sports car. it doesn't pound as much. I didn't bolt my frame down. But, you need to pull the chines and the shears against each other to keep anything from moving.

Re: Thinking about first build - Tahoe vs Monaco

Jim I'm biased. I stretched the Tahoe 19 to 20'-6". I run a 4 cylinder diesel. It will do 38 mph. I made the engine compartment as short as I could and added the length to the cockpits. I put a bench longways in front and a captains chair. I can easily seat 3 up front, 4 if one person is small....
