Re: Epoxy is not curing - a sticky mess

Thanks, I've done a few more batches since the "sticky mess" and they seem fine. I am going to assume it was my mistake. Thanks for all of your help!

Re: Epoxy is not curing - a sticky mess

:) After waiting for about two weeks I still had a few areas that were sticky. I decided that I had to do something rather than just wait. I soaked a rag in vinegar and used a little elbow greas on those areas. Then I wiped again with a clean dry rag and the mess is gone. I still do not know if it w...

Re: Epoxy is not curing - a sticky mess

Len here again, I am the originator of this thread. I think the mess is drying but it is taking way too long. However, I have a basic question. The ratio of epoxy to hardener is 5 to 1, but I assumed (that's probably the problem right there) that the ratio was in VOLUME not WEIGHT. I built a squit a...

Epoxy is not curing - a sticky mess

I live in Minnesota and have been waiting all winter for it to be warm enough for me to encapsulate my little Tubby Tug parts. I thought that day was yesterday. I mixed the epoxy and did all the parts I had ready. Most of the parts are fine, but some are not curing and they are a sticky mess. I have...

Wood Flour

I’ve not been able to find a source for wood flour. I am not sure how fine the sawdust has to be to be used for a fillet. I was able to find a source for sawdust from a local cabinet shop, but I think it is too coarse to be used as is. I think that I can buy an old blender and grind it up but I am n...

Re: tubby tug update

At one point today, little Julia told us to move a pattern 3 inches to the left. I think she is amazing to be able to read the blueprints at a young age of 15 months.

Re: tubby tug update

We started work on my Tubby Tug today with the grandkids. This will be a slow build because it gets mighty cold here in Minnesota. Today, we transferred the patterns to the plywood. I was surprised to leard that Glen-L does not include a pattern for each and every piece. Of course, the instructions ...

Re: Moving on from dreaming to doing.

Joey, I look forward to hearing from you. I live just east of Normandale and South of Old Shakopee. I ordered the plywood from Home Depot, I can pick it up on Thursday. I can't wait to transfer the templates to the wood. It will be the first step I do with the grandkids.

Re: Moving on from dreaming to doing.

You are correct, if he contacts me we'll do it on this forum. By the way, I ordered the plywood this morning. I will not be able to do any cutting till spring, but I can not wait to transfer the patterns to the plywood. The grand kids and I are building the Tubby Tug, and this is a good winter break...

Re: Moving on from dreaming to doing.

Hi, I too am a snow covered Minnesotan. I have built an squirt and I am now starting the process of building a Tubby Tug with my grandchildren. I live in Bloomington, which is not far from Lake Minnetonka. My e-mail is LSANDOK@AOL.COM and I would welcome any questions you might have. I am sure you w...

It's been a month or two since you were about to start work on your Tubby tug. I will be starting soon and I was wondering how you are coming along and if you have any tips?

Re: len sandok

Yes I still have the squirt. I wanted to start small where correcting mistakes would not cost a fortune. It has been in the water only two times. The first was to test it out and the second was the 4th of July Boat Parade. It has been in the basement ever since. I wanted to build a 20-25' boat when ...
