Argosy - Bow Roller / Anchor

In looking at the Argosy plans, I see the bow roller anchor design as weak (but maybe I am wrong). These are the flaws in see in the study plans I received: 1) No 'ears' on each side of the roller. As the boat swings from side to side on an overnight cove, if no ears are present, the line (or chain)...

Argosy - Hybrid question

From the web site link below, ReGen Nautic offers an hybrid propulsion system for Trawlers.

http://regennautic.com/

In your opinion, would this type of technology be used on the Argosy?
If so, would you recommend 1 or 2 electric motors?

Thanks

Saboteer - boat flippled

Hi guys, Big moment for me this weekend, we have flipped my Saboteer over. The boat is looking good. Now, I do have a few questions: 1) Do I have to epoxy or glass the dagerboard & tiller? 2) Once I install the rubber rail (on the sheer clamp), what can I put on top to make it look good? (right now,...

Saboteer progress - Fiber done

Hi folks, I am glad to report my fiberglass is now done on my 10' Saboteer. It took me 4 short days to do the job. I was short about 15 SF of fabric, but lucky me, Home Depot sells this product. The best time to fiber is when temp is at 70 Deg F. One day, I glassed at 85 Deg F. and had only 10 minut...

Hi guys, My soboteer is moving along well. I am working on the last half of my bottom. Question 1 -> Before I glass, what product (paste) do I use to fill all my screw heads? and where do I find it? Question 2 about epoxy -> this morning, I mixed some resin and slow hardener (abouit 4 oz) like I nor...

Scarf Joint - Cutting Platform

Hi guys, First, I want to thank all of your recommendations for the bottom planking of my Saboteer. As you recommended, I am so happy to report that I made several scarf joints on 1/4" ply which was not so bad to do. They are now glued and holds together (at least for now...). Next step is to cut, g...

Re: Butt joint questions on Saboteer

Thanks guys,

Stuart, can you expand on your method for making a scarf joint?

I do have a hand plane.
When you say plane at every one inch mark, do I plan 1/8" less for every mark? or something like that...

Thanks

Butt joint questions on Saboteer

Hi folks, My Saboteer construction is moving along well and I have a few questions regarding butt joints for the bottom. 1) Can I use only glue (and pressure) when building a butt joint? (this would be done on a flat area) 2) Since the widest part of my buttom is 50" (2 sides at 25 inch), I am short...

Re: Saboteer Build

Hi Bill,

Fyi, Glen-L will order for me a sail specifically for the Saboteer. You may be able to take advantage of this if you decide to build a Saboteer.

Thought you may want to know.

Bye

Soboteer - Sails & Rigging info needed

I am looking to purchase the alternate sail kit recommended by Glen-L for my Saboteer. Are the below items what I have to buy: - Bull's eye Cat Sail - Bull's eye Cat hardware kit (standard or deluxe) I want to make sure I am buying the right sail & rigging for my boat. Another question about the sai...

Re: Saboteer Build

Hi Bill, My mistake. the board was 1" x 10" x 12'. This board was used for the daggerboard & tiller (both required a large peace...) I installed both my sheers and seat cleat this morning. Went very and they fitting almost perfectly with the pre-cuts made from the patterns. I hope you will soon star...

Re: Saboteer Sail Question

Hi Bill, My project is moving along well. I am now working on the dagerboard trunk. These are my tool models: * Jig saw - Black & Decker (basic red model - works very well and I use it alot) * Circular saw - Milyauki (does very well with a good fine blade - so far, I used it just a little * Table sa...

Saboteer progress

Things are moving along well on my project.

The picture below shows the keel & chine logs in place. The boat lines look great so far (in my opinion)

Nextg step will be the sheer, daggerboard trunk, and faring (..... not looking forward for this step :(

Transom & Bow cap question

As I am making good progress (I think ...) on my Saboteer construction, I am not sure when I need to install the Bow & Transom ply cap (the second layer). Both (transom & bow) are almost in place and I am getting ready to install/fit the members (keel, chine, sheer). question #1--> Once the members ...
