Fairing finally finished and bottom is covered in 10 ounce fiberglass, reinforced at the seams with 6" wide fiberglass tape. The weave was filled with epoxy with peel ply stretched over the wet epoxy. This gives a very nice flat surface, albeit with a tiny grain to it. I have a few bubbles and ...

Wish I could post more progress pictures, but at the moment its still fairing the bottom- dull, mindless task that goes on forever.

Z Wood: Now to answer your question. The auto paint stores sell automotive clear coat. I use Omni MC161 and M167 (medium hardener). Hmmm, yes a former microbiologist who chose the Army. The compartments are not watertight as they have limber holes.
