Re: Ches T Zip Build

Thanks everyone!

I think I will be able to come to some decision with those ideas to work with. Thinking maybe that auto chrome strip might not be such a bad idea!

Re: Ches T Zip Build

Yes I know. Another long interval. But I have a question again. I have the deck on my boat and am now fairing the deck material back to the sheer. when this is complete there is a sharp corner. I know this needs to be radiused to accomodate the fabric so it can come a little down the side. I was pla...

Re: Where to start...

Hi Ian, It has been a bit since we chatted. Just wondering how your trip to shuswap went with your boat? That is truely one beautiful lake! We took the family there when they were young and had a blast for about 5 days on a houseboat. I have not been around on the forum much the last year or two but...

Thanks for the response.

So you are saying I maybe don't even need the drains? That would suite me fine! I was planning on installing a bilge pump.

Re: Ches T Zip Build

Hi everyone, I know it has been a long time again. I have not forgotten about this forum or my boat. I just haven't had enough time to work on it. I am now finally almost to the point of starting the deck. Just doing a few things like working out the steering and things like that as they are easier ...

Re: Builders Who Make Wooden Templates Of Boat Frame Compone

I don't know if I am qualified to and to the confusion here, but here goes. I am slowly trying to build a Zip. I made templates out of 3/8 in plywood. My reasoning was that if there was error in the transfering or drawing of outlines it would only happen once, which is not an issue where there is on...

Re: New Member from Victoria, Aus

Good to see young guys getting into this "craft". Pun intended. I don't know much about the boats you guys are talking about, but what you guys are saying about the cost makes sense to me if like Trackhappy says he has $40,000 in it. I am building a Zip and I have approximately $5000 in it so far an...

Re: kid yak

Doesn't look like that is the first thing you built. I see a nice RC airplane in one pic. And a nice looking vintage outboard. You better build a boat for it!

Re: New member in Calgary - Mast step

Well Hi,

Finally another boat builder in Alberta. Welcome.

I am just an hour drive NE of Calgary. If you ever want to see my Zip build just give me a call. I still have quite a way to go but it is slowly taking shape.

Re: SILICON BRONZE SCREWS not working....

I had the same problem. For me it helped to drill the pilot hole deeper and a little larger. I also found it helped to drill a hole as large as the shank of the screw thro the top piece of wood, as I am not using countersinks. I found that sapale is a very hard wood indeed. Nice to work with tho.

Re: Andrew from Brisbane, Australia - looking at a ZIP

Welcome to forum wake_dude_7. Your question caught my eye because the very thing you ask about removing the construction between the cockpits is exactly what I did on my Zip. I just left the top piece out of the frame. I now have the boat flipped and there seem to be no ill effects from this that I ...
