Glad you made it though OK pard, I missed the chance to pray for a good surgery so I'll pray for a speedy recovery.

Re: deeper Vee ZIP
Is there some kind of formula to calculate the hp needed for a certain dead-rise ? The two most common formulas for calculating HP are the Crouch formula and the Keith formula. It's not as cut and dry as saying that "x degrees= y HP" but here's a decent link or two to read up on. http://continuousw...

Re: deeper Vee ZIP
No pissing contest, but whatever man. I was just trying to be helpful and keep the OP from getting bad advice because plain and simple, a v hull does not make a boat a displacement hull.
I'm out, have a nice day.

Re: deeper Vee ZIP
Where do you see true grit listed as a displacement hull? The page on it shows a speed of 18-20mph which is well above displacement speed for it's waterline. I don't need to read the inboard motor installation book and I'm certainly not trying to be a jerk, but I've studying hull design a lot and ha...

Re: deeper Vee ZIP
...I am not looking for speed but a comfortable ride with minimum power if possible. Then just slow down a bit  Keep in mind that the more deadrise you have, the more power it takes to move at the same speed. Deep V hulls are great for going fast in a chop, but there is no free lunch, you hav...

Re: Staple Holes
A bit late perhaps, but I'll chime in anyway for future reference. One thing that will make a HUGE impact on staple holes is to take a rag and some steaming hot water and wipe down the cedar. The steamy hot water will swell the wood a bit and cause the holes to swell shut pretty good. You can still ...

Re: Seaknight Power
It would be a bit underpowered, but probably still able to plane if kept light with minimal load. BTW, I see you're in Rincon. I spent a lot of time down there back when I lived in GA. I've caught many fish from Ebaneezer creek and out of the little oxbow lake just upstream of where Ebaneezer creek ...

Re: Help! what to buy to redesign boat
No worries Gavo, I play with RC's a bit. I have a 26" twin screw electric, but it's not fast. I also have a highly modded stadium truck with a 26,000rpm nitro and 2 speed transmission that will flat out boogie on the pavement or dirt! That's where I came to play on the RC Universe forum, there's som...

Re: CAUTION TENNESSEE BUILDERS!!
Keep your reciepts on everything and you might get away OK. I wrote the gov on this matter who in turn sent me an e-mail saying he had given my e-mail to someone else. A few months later I got a letter in the mail from the head of the department of revenue. His explanation was that it was all sales ...
