Re: Nesting dinghies?

I built a "Chameleon" nesting dinghy as a gift for a friend a few years back. If memory serves there's an article about it in the April 2012 issue of "Good Old Boat." The plans were available directly from the designer, Danny Greene, for $35 back then. It is indeed a stitch and glue build, which was...

PVC lumber

Has anybody used solid PVC lumber from home centers in a boat?
I'm thinking of using it for the spray skirts on La Chatte, the 16' catamaran I'm building.
I don't know how it compares with starboard, but it is a bit cheaper.

sanding hulls

Does anybody have a recommendation for random orbital sander backing pad that works well for sanding contoured surfaces?
I have a 5" Porter-Cable ROS and my boat is a Glen-L La Chatte, a 16' catamaran.

I bought it for $140. the boom was $100 and the mast step was $50, but when you consider that a new gooseneck and mast step for the Hobie a...

Re: finishing a 40 year old project

I built a pumpkin seed as well. It also didn't survive because it was stored outside and first the canvas cover, then the boat disintegrated in the Colorado sun. I also still have the sails, mast, and hardware. As I recall it was loads of fun to build and sail.
good luck!

new to forum, building "La Chatte," what glue for hull skin?

Hello all, My name is Mark and I live in Englewood, CO (suburb of Denver). I've been building the La Chatte car-toppable catamaran for the last year or so. Why the La Chatte? My family loves camping in our pop-up trailer and sailing, but I wasn't crazy about towing 2 trailers in tandem on our trips....
