Re: Who's Going and Where

Thanks Kevin. The v-birth sounds like I would REALLY be getting into the swing of things!
We can keep that as Plan C.

Was wondering if anyone had a spare room?
I plan to fly in from Australia around 7:30pm on the 14th and leave Sunday morning.
Happy to share costs.

Re: Assembling a Riviera transom

I received a reprint of the plans and found to my dismay the Riviera frame #7 is 4" below the Setup line. Of course I had glued and screwed frame #7 on :( did a mighty glue up with transom parts, frame #7, frame #8, the stem parts the breast hook all lined up. Turns out the transom party was out of ...

That makes a lot of sense to me Bill. I couldn't imagine rolling or brushing the Grip. Thanks

Re: Assembling a Riviera transom

Epoxy Glue questions: 1. Do I (Should I) use Poxy-grip on every surface while cold moulding? (I understand the initial layer will only have glue on Longitudinal battens and Keel, Chine and Shear) I have used half of a gallon kit just getting to the point of frames on stringers! 2. How much Poxy-grip...

Re: Assembling a Riviera transom

Separate question:
i am setting up my stringers but one of the measurements at the bow end of the stringer has become obscured. Could someone please check their drawings and provide the circled measurement?

Thanks very much,

Thanks so much for the quick replies.
I am blown away by the craftsmanship in these photos!
The photos have been really helpful.
Jenko, what material did you use for your frames?

Assembling a Riviera transom

Hello friends, got back to working on my Riviera! Have assembled all the frames except the transom. Got a couple of questions: 1. The curved deck board is described as being made from two 1/2" lams. What should the actual finished thickness of each of those lams be? Would a quarter inch (7mm) be too...

Re: Nails & screws in Gusset / floor timber

Thanks for the quick replies!
Is there a preference for which side to pre drill? Or put in two screws from each side per frame?
I.e two through the floor timber (plywood) and two through the framing timber?

Re: Nails & screws in Gusset / floor timber

I am about to assemble my first frame Frame #1 on my Riviera (transom being way to tricky for the first assembly!) however after pouring over the plans and Glen's Boatbuilding with Plywood I am still confused about how to secure the floor timber to the bottom frame members.
