Re: Matt's Geronimo

Howdy, my experience on fuel consumption so far with my 90hp etec in my Geronimo. I have a 14gal tank and have the same idea to bring an extra gas can when we make longer trips. But so far - with three or four adults - we've been out in the bay for 1 1/2 or 2 hours, running around at 25 to 35 mph, a...

Re: Matt's Geronimo

Howdy Matt. I did a lot of sanding on my boat when it was upside down, all the resin layers, paint coats etc. For the heavy sanding where fairing was important I used my block sanders - plywood in 3" widths and varying thicknesses, 18 to 24" long with handles on the ends and sanding belts ...

Howdy, so if you want to put a picture above your address on your posts, anyone know how or who to ask? Is that what an avatar is? I thought that was a movie...Bob

Re: Roustabout build in progress

Hi Elliot, the hull looks great with those strakes. I recently finished the Geronimo - I really liked the Roustabout (actually got the plans) but it would've been too tight to build in my garage - and more challenging with the lift strakes. I've had my boat out five times, I have a new Evinrude e-tec...

Re: Bob's Geronimo 3rd time's a charm

Yeah Matt, you'd think with the lighter load it'd be faster than the 38mph in the bay with 6 aboard. Maybe we had a tailwind in the bay. But also, salt water is more buoyant so in the freshwater we were displacing more water and also had the ballast. Don't know. I prefer the bay and harbor so hopefu...

Bob's Geronimo 3rd time's a charm

My wife and I took her out again yesterday after I adjusted the ballast, this time on Lake San Vicente which is a large fresh water reservoir. I was really unhappy the first two outings because the nose was so high and I couldn't trim it down so was pretty apprehensive. I put two weight plates (60lb...

Re: Bob's Geronimo - 2nd time

Okay Matt and MattB, here's some side shots of the boat.. There are no adjusting pins, those holes are just there. The only tilt adjustment is the trim switch on the throttle handle, and the tilting switch on the side of the motor. What you see here is the fully down position, i.e., I tilted it full...

Bob's Geronimo - 2nd time

Howdy, we took her out again yesterday. The first time I couldn't keep the nose down or trim it right and I thought it was because there were too many people in the boat. So this time, just me and my wife and I was hoping for a smooth ride. We started out at the south end of San Diego Bay. We had a ...

Re: Matt's Geronimo

Howdy Matt, she's looking good, I really like the seat. Having the dash and the wheel on must be encouraging and puts a perspective on it while you're building I would think. It's taken me 5 yrs and 4 mos to build my Geronimo. I'm thinking I may have some "post-partum" depression now, espe...

Bob's Geronimo - launch

Well we launched her yesterday and it was a great day - I am really happy with the boat. Jim Milhouse came by and watched and gave some tips. So here's how it went - all I've got are a couple of stills taken at the pier, if I can figure out how to put my daughter's camera videos on here I'll send a ...

Re: Bob's Geronimo - launch tomorrow

Thanks for the good wishes folks! I'm pretty excited. Seemed like I'd never be done but then things just kind of came together at the end. Bill I like your idea , kind of like giving the grandkids ice cream cones to calm them down. Bob

Bob's Geronimo - launch tomorrow

Well, she's about done and I'll be launching Agatha tomorrow morning. It's a big wide concrete ramp with lots of dock space so hopefully it'll go smoothly. I will have some help from my daughter and her family so it should go okay. I need to learn a method so just me and my wife can use the boat. Sh...

Re: Bob's Geronimo's windshield done

Hi Jim, thanks for the great tip on South Shores launch ramp, I checked it out a couple days ago and really like it, real wide ramp, lots of places to tie up. We're fortunate to have this. So the plan is to go there this Saturday, bringing my wife and my daughter and her family. She can handle boats...
