Re: Mid year Titan progress

On Mooring.jpg Hi all-I have had some good sea trials with the Titan now and practicing whenever possible, docking technique. When going astern and with the R/H throw of the prop, she is predictable to read the 'prop walk'. Coming alongside a dock or jetty to Port ,works well and I usually do this ...

Re: Hello! I'm building a Titan in steel.

Hello there Tom-Congratulations on selecting a Titan as your first build. It is a very fine design. We have just finished ours recently and it is a terrific vessel. You may have seen some information and pictures on the forum already(Mid Year Titan) There is another chap on the forum(El Jefe) who ha...

Re: Mid year Titan progress

Thanks Carl-As with any build, there can be a lot of head scratching along the way. Sometimes you just have to walk away and do something else for a while and then it seems to come together again. The satisfaction of actually having it in the water and everything working properly, well I'm still smi...

Re: Mid year Titan progress

Thanks Steve-Considering this is where we were in July 2011 after purchasing from Carlos, we have come a long way. I have had all the 'snoops' in the harbour looking at her, mostly in approval and the 'knockers' when on board could not believe how balanced and stiff it is. It certainly cuts through ...

Re: Mid year Titan progress

Greetings all-Thanks for your positive comments. As it is winter here, timing is everything and we launched the Titan in favourable conditions today. I cannot speak highly enough of the plans,as the boat sits perfectly level in the water and to it's designed water line.(This has got to be every boat...

Re: Mid year Titan progress

Hi all-Finally got all the electrics sorted and funnily enough all the gear works. There was one small lead left off the back of the starter motor and took a while to figure out why the engine would not turn over. Got that fixed and after bleeding the fuel twice the little Kubota came to life. It ru...

Re: Scuppers Sizes and numbers

Aero Dan-I'm not sure how far ahead you are thinking. Just a tip you are possibly aware of already. When you get towards purchasing an engine, make sure it's electricals' are compatible with the hull. That is to say all the components are earthed 'above ground' or at least can be changed over to sui...

Re: Scuppers Sizes and numbers

Well there you go, I would have thought when the stern compresses in the water you would get fountains coming up through cockpit drains.

Cockpit drains sound like your best option then.

On deck hatches, hopefully there is enough Sikaflex around mine as they have not been 'road tested' as yet.

Re: Scuppers Sizes and numbers

You can view some pictures and information on the thread directly below yours. Mid year Titan progress. Granted ,it is somewhat disjointed and I am probably better at building than posting material from the computer. The best information however relative to your project may be found on Slugs Titan t...

Re: Scuppers Sizes and numbers

I agonised over this for sometime on the Titan build we are doing. Ended up using 2,6" by 2" RHS and with that, a hinged flap on the outside to prevent backflow into the cockpit. Did not like the look of large circular holes projecting out the side of the hull.I also thought about having drains from...

Re: Mid year Titan progress

Engine overhead.jpg Pushing along nicely here-Some electricals done and the hydraulic steering is operating as of today. Some more parts due in tomorrow and next deal is the cooling circuit(engine) and fuel lines etc. Some more pics as requested. Regards-CR. Possibly fire up the engine for the firs...
