Re: The Fletchers Malahini

I also am considering pushing the cross rail at frame one more aft and have two smaller storage areas on either side of the motor well. If fact, I'm trying to figure a ...

moeller fuel tank clips and straps

I finally got my fuel tank mounted. I have extra moeller tank clips and straps. I have screws for the straps. I am offering them to anyone that wants them for shipping costs. The clips shouldn't be more than $5. THe straps might be $14, but I'll have to check the postage rate. If anyone wants them P...

Re: Catalina 22 repairs

Sapele encapsulated with epoxy and coated with varnish for uv protection should work nicely. There have been issues with certain types of varnish not curing over epoxy. Check through the forum and you should be able to find the discussion.

Re: modified malahini

I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but I'm trying to figure out my decking. I have been using sapele for the sides and plan on using it for cover boards and king plank. The rest of the decking I want to be more red. I need to purchase more lumber and I though while I'm there I should get what I nee...

Carl: I like the aft cut out, but I didn't think I like the change in the front. Also, if you are planning on making the front window operational, won't the angle down effect that?

Re: modified malahini

THe next problem I had to deal with was when I screwed in my lift strakes, the screws lifted the middle batten instead of grabbing the wood. I didn't realize this until after the flip. I tried to find a way to cut off the screws, but couldn't get any tool under the batten. I drilled holes in the bat...

Re: modified malahini

I also worked on my fuel tank. I am using a 19 gal bow tank from moeller. I want it to be removable if I ever have to work in the bow for any reason, but the straps I am using would be very difficult to undo in front of the tank, so I made the platform removable. It is held down by two screws in the...

Re: modified malahini

I haven't had much time to work on the boat with all the yard work and moving my daughter back from Baltimore, but I have gotten a few things done. First problem I had to deal with was a mistake I made when I was putting on the sides and bottom. Where I was planning on veneering the sides with 3/16 ...
