Re: 20ft Texas Barrel

Ouch Matt, did you hit the screw or just rip out the plug? I've hit a few when I was planing. It is a pain to grind out the chip in the blade and resharpen.

Re: Boat dreaming "Atlantic Skiff"

Kevin: adding a cabin to the Atlantic skiff should be doable. I think trying to add a skeg to the Albert E. would be more difficult. I think the general feeling is above the waterline you can make changes, but below the waterline you should keep true to the plans.

Re: 20ft Texas Barrel

I'm afraid of my power planer. I like a good sharp hand plane.

Re: news members from FRANCE

Matt, can you measure the angle between horizontal and the bottom at the transom? I believe that's the deadrise at the transom.

Re: Count Down

Just got a call from Hales Bar. They are requiring the first day paid in full. Didn't say if it was refundable or not. I didn't give them a payment yet, but I think they want it by tomorrow.

Christophe: Hoodman built a Geronimo. If you reach out to him, I'm sure he can give you the deadrise.

Kody: I think the ski bass might be a better option. You know you can have an open bow. Reconfiguring interior layout is doable. You should be able to add a deck to cover the bow fairly easily. You do lose about six inches of beam from the desperado.

Nice Carl: I haven't decided to paint my bilge or not. What are the advantages of painting vs. leaving bilge natural?

Re: 20ft Texas Barrel

Check out the photos in Re: Home Stretch by Bunman on the forum. He added a two inch wide coverboard that he contoured into the deck. It looks like he made the widest part at the bow where the cover board meets the side planking and rounded it over from there, leaving a flat area for the rub rail.

The straps I used were also from moeller. Cradle hold down kit - Mfg # 300110. 14070841.jpg I tried the clips you are using and didn't like the width of my platform with them. It made the tank placement too far into the toe kick space. Don't forget, you need to account for almost an inch of expansio...
