Re: MI Malahini questions

Footer: I laid on the fiberglass then rolled on the epoxy. I did not see any problems. Others have said they felt the raw wood soaked up too much epoxy and the fiberglass didn't fill completely. I think which every way you choose will work fine.

Re: New Member - Walter from League City TX

wnhansen: The Malahini is already stretched from another design. (I forget which boat) The frame spacing gets a little too far apart beyond 16'. As far as motors: Bob Bandenstein runs a new 4 stroke 70hp Yamaha on his Malahini and it runs nicely. Matt B and others have a 90hp evinrude e-tec 2 stroke...

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

Carl: Looks good. That last picture helped me understand your intent. Does that small piece give enough support? I'd be afraid the force on the cantilever would cause it to give way. When you add the hardwood edge, I'd make it wide enough to put a block under the edge inside the box for greater supp...

wnhansen:

Welcome to the forum. There are several malahini builders on the forum that can answer your questions. I will help when I can, but even though I've been at it for 5 yrs+, I still feel like I don't know what I'm doing.

Re: Fiberglass and strakes

Footer: the edges that are fiberglassed need to be rounded over. About the radius of a pencil works fine. About the spray rail: in the forward section the lower edge should project out and down like fig.1 What you do to the upper edge is up to you. As you work back to the aft section it should follo...

Carl: Looking really nice. Are you going to have an outboard with a motor well? If so, I think many run the bilge hose to the well and let it drain from there.

Sorry Carl, we did kind of hijack your thread there. Everything is looking good. You're making good progress even though it doesn't feel like it.

Re: NEW GUY FROM VER BEACH FLORIDA

You need three approved posts before you can upload pictures. One more and you're good to go. I used poxy grip epoxy. I stapled the veneers through a rope. Once the epoxy is set, I pulled the rope and most of the staples cam with it. The few that remained were easy to pull out. YOu can see pictures ...

Hogwild:

Welcome to the forum. Any pictures of the ampeater? Veneering the 1/4" ply will work, but you don't need 1/4" planks. Most use 1/8" veneer.
