Welcome. A small stitch and glue boat is a great way to get started in boat building. Only recommendation is use good marine products. You probably don't need it for a simple 8ft boat but if you prefer books to the internet you might consider the "Boat-building with Plywood" book from Glen-L. Enjoy!

My local supplier had 3/4" actual thickness African Mahogany in random length from 6-14 ft and width of about 7" to 14". Most were about 8ft and 7-8" wide. You just plan out the best you can. I had the luxury of having a supplier nearby which helped a lot.

I've been keeping pretty good comparison going of this kit build compared to my plans build. I was well over 300 hours at this point. Id say its closer to 40% time savings. Go for it TAB, its worth it! It really doesn't make sense to build a Zip from plans as long as this kit is available. In the en...
