skid plate

The skid plate, that's the word I was trying to think of. Any way on all jet skis that is the planing surface. Without it their is going to be unnecessary turbulance created. It's a shame their is so long a space needed to fit these motors and jet drives into the small boats. We seem to end up stick...

Refering to the photo of the jet drive.Without the guard, that goes under the pump on all jet skis, it probably will suck up water. I'll bet the shield or plate extends upto the pivot point of the nozel.

Zip or Rebel

My dad is getting up in years so he gave me his 17' lowe fishing boat which has an 85 yamahe 50hp with power trim. I am not much into lake type fishing, streams yes. Any way the rebel is 6'' longer and 7'' wider and rated for twice the hp. The zip is 14'4'' and the rebel 14' 10''. I want a ski boat ...

tools for christmas

Watch out asking for tools this season it could backfire. The wife will figure if you can build a boat surley you could tackel something easier, like an intertainment center arround the big screen. Or a china cabinet after-all they are only BOXES. Well that could lead to even more tools you would ne...

Has annyone used contact cement to glue down vaneer or planking to a deck. It works on countertops and those aren't sealed with a clear coat.

Like terry I got the kawasaki JS550 in my TNT. If I had it to do over again I would look for a 750 3cyl. on up. You can always throttal back. If the motor is too small you would be running the guts out of it at full throttal.

fairing tool

For faring the chine and sheer clamp for the plywood hull I bolted a 30'' stick to the side of my Makita belt sander. The stick is parallel to the bottom pad and extends out in front of the sander. It keeps the sander at the same angle without rocking. If you are plaining off the sheer to the chine ...

Jointer

I have been building cabinets for over 20yrs now and never needed a Jointer. Buy all the wood straight lined and surfaced 2 sides, and spend your money on another tool. A planer would come in handy once in a blue moon. I have a 36'' drum sander by Woodmaster, the sand paper is felt backed and the dr...

Say what about putting twin jets in a modified catamaran. Dont they stay level through the turns? Another question would be the max size of Jetski engine you could put in the TNT. I think a 750 would be hot.
