Re: Catalina 22 repairs

The epoxy will protect the wood, but if you are mounting the wood to surfaces where moisture gets trapped like the grooves you mentioned the one part varnish may bubble up. May be better opting with a 2part varnish.

Bryan-
Another option is bleach the Sapele and then stain. Would get any degree of red you want then

Matt-
Nice to see that the winch mount works well for you. Great when you can fab your own metal parts
Are you required to run a bow safety chain on the winch post?

Re: SEA KNIGHT

Craig- Seems we all run into life problems and changes as we build. Finishing the boat will be a nice way to see things thru as you will get a chance enjoy what you created.

Re: Restoring Glory Days a 23' Belle Isle

Thanks Billy and Carl Yes it will be good getting it back in the water this season. There ended up being many more hours because of the recessed epoxy caulk lines that I decided to save. It was much easier finishing the deck boards without the "caulk" when its was done originally as no problem if ep...

Re: mystery motor problem

Boeshield T-9 sprayed on the connector might help keep the moisture and corrosion out now that you have fixed the problem :D

It would be interesting to see what Danenburg has to say about your experience with this if you followed his lead. Have you posted this to his forum?

Re: Restoring Glory Days a 23' Belle Isle

Progress continues refinishing the Belle. The W. D. Lockwood metal complex dyes worked well over the sanded mahogany. I ran a water test first, misting with a spray bottle to make sure all of the surface absorbed evenly and at the same time corrected errant sanding scratches. The old transom had a f...

Re: Key Largo Update - Boise, ID

If the varnish is pretty fresh maybe it will be fine after it dries. If not that, I would find the instructions for the material you used and see what it recommends for topcoats and start over.
