Re: Mt. Dora Antique Boat Show

Hi boatbuilders. I've followed the postings on the Lake Dora Antique Boat Festival for a week now and want to express my favorite as being the Tahoe of Butch Barto. " Innocence" has become a regular here and regardless of wind or rain, it's in the water and running. Also, those interested in the pos...

Irish Rose's weight and balance.

Boy, you guys are tough. First of all, notice that Miss Connie is seated on the centerline therefore cannot be seen as a contributor to this matter. Further study shows that if the skipper (me) had been seated further to the starbard, in the space that was available, perhaps the port listing might n...

Hi Dave, Since 4 out of 5 of the first responses addressed trailer issues, I want to focus on the boat itself. Well done. As a Zip builder, I can appreciate the hours of sanding that your build represents to this point. I had thought about using a fin too, but opted for a skeg to provide a lower set...

Bottom Paint

In my area, boat builders constantly express varying opinions as what paint is best for boat bottoms. Since most of them are "restorers" they tend to lean towards InterLux products. I wanted a glossy dark green finish on my Zip. Since I had fiberglassed the hull, I felt that there just might be opti...

getting started

G'day and Happy New Year Chris, You got off to a good start by checking out this forum. This is the place for many of the answers as you start your first build. As a first time builder, I found a wealth of information in the Glen-L book " Boatbuilding with Plywood". If a picture is worth a thousand ...

The Gathering

I just wanted to drop in and tell all you guys what a great time Tina and I had at the Gathering.
For the records, I did see Dave Grason "Zipping" around the lake Saturday afternoon.
Best to you all,
Tom Drake

Gathering

Sorry that I hit a tender spot Bill. That was not my intent. I guess this will probably put me immediately behind leakcheck in the dunking and flogging event.
Let's get back on track as the time draws near. You and Dave are the men !!!!

Pavillions

Bill, I understand not wanting to feed the world, but I would recommend using the same pavillion all weekend as a central control. Communications could become a problem since not everyone will be staying in the cabin area. Any event announcements could be posted as well as messages on a bullitin boa...

Gathering Committment

Hey Guys, I now have a pretty good understanding of the food and beverage plans for the big event, but what will be the prescribed ( or recommended) proceedure upon arriving at the State Park with a boat ? Tina (wife) and I will arrive Friday AM and can help out if there is to be a registration. I'm...
