Re: Building The Vera Cruise

Thanks Mannan. It was my pleasure to have you come by and discuss boats. As I had mentioned in our PM's, there are very few who understand what we are doing and I thoroughly enjoy having someone to talk to about the project. I would like to say, however, that I am taking my inspiration from many of...

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

I had a chance to stop by to visit Carl and see his Project while in Austin to visit my Daughters over the Christmas Holidays. Carl is doing a beautiful woodworking job on his boat with fewer fancy tools than most of us think we could get by with! He, unlike Robera, is like a lot of us, somew...

Re: Roberta's Torpedo

Roberta: Let me know how that resaw blade works. I finally bit the bullet and bought the Laguna SUV Bandsaw. It came with that blade as part of the package and they had a New Member sign-up of 10% off. The total, delivered on a Liftgate Truck to my door was about $375 less than what it would have be...

Re: Plywood Planking

6mm is roughly the equivalent of 1/4in. If you doubled two sheets of 3mm Okume you'd have 1/4in. (Roughly) Might think of doing that. What do the more experienced builders think? :?:

Re: Well, I bought my first revolver.

To add to the media hype, news stations, whether liberal or conservative, all sensationalize their presentation of news to appeal to their audience. There is little news out there that is not biased in some way. Roberta +1000 It's pathetic really. What Roberta says is true. I used to be in the busi...

Re: Roberta's Torpedo

Right now I have a 125" 3/8" 4TPI blade that I use for ripping, cross cutting, and cutting curves in the frame parts. It's basically the blade that came with the saw. ---- The blade I am getting for resawing and ripping is the 125" Laguna 1" Resaw King blade. It is carbide tipped 2-3 TPI variable w...

Re: Well, I bought my first revolver.

My opinion of the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the U.S. is; that it was written over 200 years ago about weapons of the time so as to protect us, as Citizens from the Gov't. seizing total control of us as they are starting to do now. I think the Second Amendment by today"s standards shoul...

Re: Roberta's Torpedo

They are introducing the 14/Twelve that is smaller and runs on 120VAC and could be an alternative. It will be selling for about $1100.00. Has some nice features, but I would still prefer my 14SUV. Re: Engine Placement in Barrelback and Key Largo

I believe when you are trying to calculate the CB point the designer has to take into account the reasonable placement of people, accessories, rigging etc that is not included in the original hull plan. Both these models are just 19 foot teeter's so a foot either way from CB should not have profoun...

Re: Sweating while using epoxy

I don't do that. But, Please use a tyvek suit and vapor mask. Bill What Bill said! Add nitrile or other skin protective gloves to that. I had a friend that developed a severe allergy to epoxy. I'm not sure whether it was from fumes or skin contact, but it nearly killed him! He was building an airpl...

Re: 2014 Gathering G-8

Becky and I were in #7. Chief complaint was the constant sewer smell. The front slider door leaked a bit during the squall, but that was minor. Back door curtain rod holding the curtain/drape wasn't secure, so it fell off one night while trying to close it. There was no freezer section to the refrig...

AWSOME boats! AWSOME people! As wanna-be first time builders, Becky and I came away with some good ideas and think we have made the model and engine combination that we'll start when we get back to Florida. Thanks Bill for the great ride in Miss Lola! That clinched my choice of engines and it looks ...
