Re: Tahoe 23 engine/transmission

I am late to this discussion, so I might have missed something. I used the PCM 343 engine with their 9 degree down angle transmission. I went with a starboard helm which meant a right hand prop. The engine still turns clockwise viewed from the front so the transmission is running in "reverse" in ord...

Re: Riviera/Monaco/Tahoe full season in salt/brackish water?

Good analogy! I had not thought of like that. I miss my boat every day, but I take comfort in the fact that the new owner is really enjoying the boat. I keep in touch with him on a regular basis. So maybe Frodo didn't die, he just moved to another country! Skip

Re: Riviera/Monaco full season in salt/brackish water?

nybhh, it would be very cool to watch your build, particularly if you mill your own lumber. White oak is perfect for building the frames. It is a very strong wood and has been used for years to build boats. I personally used mahogany because I liked the look. There is no reason that the Monaco or Ri...

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

Hadn't been on here for a few days and just now read about your stones. I am very glad you finally got some relief. I have had two stones and I know exactly what you have been going through. Thank God it is over for you. That last one I had, the doctors made me go through 2 weeks of pure hell before...

Re: Varnishing Tips

JT, I followed the directions on the Perfection Plus can to the letter. My memory is not what it used to be and I don't have a can of it in the shop anymore, so I can't check it. I know I used 320 grit but can't remember for sure if I did it between each coat. If the can said to do so, than that is ...

Here is a video of the Keels and Wheels boat (and car) show this past weekend down near Houston. Some very nice boats and cars.

Working on the interior of my Monaco was a snap compared to your interior, Carl. So many possibilities and you are definitely rising to the challenge. Your interior is looking great and I look forward to your progress reports. Skip

Re: Making progress on my Monaco.

Thanks guys! I am spending some time trying to come up with something to work on, but for now, I am putting up shelves in the now vacant part of my shop. Lots of room to expand into with all my tools and scrap wood (lots and lots of scrap wood)! Skip
