Re: Making progress on my Monaco.
Well, the day finally arrived to say goodbye to my Monaco. As you all know I sold it on an auction site, called Bring a Trailer. Well that deal fell through, fortunately. The auction winner was going to put the boat in Lake Eden, which turned out to be very small. It is a 190 acre lake of which only...

Re: Routing rebate into timber corner monaco
Chris, I stapled a thin batten down to the hull to use as a guide for my router. Space it from the edge of the sheer such that the router bit will cut a rabbit (what you call a rebate) along the edge the width, and depth, of the piece of mahogany you want to use. I used a spiral up cut router bit an...

Re: Making progress on my Monaco.
Thanks Bill. I will be coming here very often to keep up with all the great builds going on. Thanks Carl! It was hard to sell the boat, but in the long run it was the right thing to do. I have several planes that I am interested in such as a RV, biplane like the Pitts or Christen Eagle, or even a se...

Re: Making progress on my Monaco.
Thanks BayouBengal! Sorry I got you hooked on the Bring A Trailer site! Yes, it is very addictive. I am really not a notch above anybody here, but thanks for the compliment. My boat came out the way it did by my standing on the shoulders of those who built before me. There were many builders here th...

Re: Making progress on my Monaco.
Thanks everyone. Yes the boat did sell and now I am sad. It was definitely an experience. It didn't sell for what I hoped it would (does it ever?) but I got what I expected. The way the bidding was going, it looked like it would go really high, but then it just stopped. It is an international auctio...

Re: Making progress on my Monaco.
As I mentioned earlier, I am selling my Monaco. I decided to try an auction site for the first attempt. It is an unusual place to sell a boat, but they have sold several Chris Craft's in the past. It is called Bring A Trailer and is used mostly to sell autos and a lot of very expensive cars sell the...

Re: modified malahini
Bryan, you want to use a vinyl tape, like 3M Scotch 471. It comes in several widths. I used it where I wanted the bottom paint to end on the sides and also to put the boot stripe on. It is expensive, but works very well. You use it to form a sharp edge for the paint. After putting it in place, cover...

Re: Making progress on my Monaco.
Thanks Chris for the nice comments. By the way, your boat is really coming along nicely! Can't wait to see it finished. I sometimes have a little regret for building a two cockpit boat. It is not easy to communicate with the rear cockpit when the boat is moving. I could have installed mufflers to ma...

Re: Making progress on my Monaco.
Thank you for the suggestion, BayouBengal. At the only boat show that I have had the boat in, I let it be known that I would be selling the boat. One couple was very interested and the husband kept coming back to look at it and ask more questions. The wife loved the boat also, but she seemed to have...

Re: Making progress on my Monaco.
Thanks Carl! I was glad you were able to be part of the first splash. I have enjoyed watching your progress and I will continue to do so even after I sell my boat. I enjoyed working with you on your hatch and if I can be of any help in the future, please let me know. I want to be there when you spla...
