Planning the Sea Knight build

Guys, The blueprints on the Sea Knight call out 80hp max, the test model had a 35hp and there's a photo of a skier being pulled up out of the water. I developed the following spreadsheet of the permutations for different sizes of Yamaha outboards. http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pP3bITpdDiHzI...

Bill, your boat is looking very good. I look forward to meeting you 28 Oct at Bethel Island and racing you to the old submerged tractor and back. I need to get to work printing our t-shirts and canvas bags for the Rendezvous. Following the current boat builds has motivated me to start my Sea Knight;...

Boat-Bill-der, I too think it would be easiest to paint the bottom now. I am with Bill I used the Interthane Plus Two-Part Polyurethane and bought the epoxy wash and brushing thinner that go with that paint. I followed the directions to the letter. I sent you an email with a link to a supplier; I do...

Boat-bill-der If you are concerned, for strength I would recommend when you flip Noelani right side up that you put a fillet of resin putty between the planking and transom and another fillet between the planking joint at the bow. I use a gherkin pickle lid (approx 1 inch radius). Then put resin soa...

Terry, your boat looks beautiful. That veneer work, glassing and varnish on the deck really shows off nicely. The motor and jet pump is really neat too. The electrical system you described in the newsletter is also impressive. I am sure you are going to have lots of great times with her and get comp...

TerryMc, I stand corrected on the HINs. I followed your wife's advise and set the rendezvous up for Sugar Barge, that is easier for me anyway. Do you have any idea in addition to the delta forum where I can post the invitation to attract some wooden steamers? They are so neat. I will ask around Beth...

A VIN exist on a vehicle in 3 places. A HIN is only required in 1 place, the starboard side on the transom above the waterline. A capacity plate (maximum horsepower, maximum persons, maximum capacity pounds) in view of the operator is also required. My first homemade boat had a mahogany transom so I...

Boat-bill-der, your boat is looking very nice, you must feel proud. You asked for recommendations so here are mine. The Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers are major inland navigable waters. I recommend you take the boating safety home study course; I did and got a lot out of it. http://www.dbw.ca.gov...

Terry, yes the delta is a wonderful place to hang out. The photos of Swing Beach were taken in Nov but we were there week before last so that must have been us you saw. The boat stays in dry storage at Sugarbarge, we have been there six years and love it, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Mayb...

Pegasus climbs up on plane

This is my first post to this forum but I have been a reader for several years. The first boat I built was a Little Gem 13-1/2 foot dory. She was beautiful with wide mahogany outer shears and seats with a deep varnish finish. Then I got two Labradors that love the water as much as I do so we needed ...
