Bonding problems
Doug, Thank you for contacting us regarding your LV/Low Tox dilution and surface prep questions. Per our conversation I would recommend denatured alcohol for both. To dilute, blend the resin and hardener together first at the recommended mix ratio, then blend in roughly 2-5% denatured alcohol to thi...

Cover boards telegraphing problem
All started with me following plans instead of my own intuition :( . I didn't install enough frame supports under the cover boards before installing them, and consequently they came out less than uniform. I also had terrible African mahogany to work with and it stained up terrible. Soooooo, ended up...

Re: Gentry in Colborne ON.
Got the trailer rebuild finished today and the Gentry loaded for her photo required for licensing. Finally good to see her outside and get a look at all her little flaws. She will definitely get a new paint job on the deck area. One thing I did do that has really pleased me was to install a trailer ...

Re: Electrical overview?
I have Calder's book....not much help in wiring diagrams. Just some basics and wire capacities. I used this site as a help.

Re: Building The Vera Cruise
I purchased a length of 3/8 SS rod, had a machine shop thread it, and took it to the spring shop to form it on their U bolt press. Biggest problem was getting the two holes straight. ( I didn't but can"t be seen!)

I'm assuming that's not going down in to your basement workshop?
What's the weight and electrics? Are some/most of these 550?

Re: Rust proofing after cutting threads
Loctite makes a never sieze product that has either a copper or some other base that works well, especially keeping SS threads from siezing.

Neel; Can you explain to me why you needed the rails? Is there a potential problem for me?

Building your own shop/garage.
The last 2 shops and last garage that I've built boats in, I've built myself. The large one for the 34' steel sailboat was 28 x 48 with 16' ceilings and fully insulated and heated (with wood and the welders   ). The next one was about 20 x 30 with a 10 foot ceiling and heated with an old...

Re: Gentry in Colborne ON.
Correction on the windshield posting; The inside radius on the curved supports is actually 2 1/2", and the diameter is 5". They are curved around to 60 degrees and cut and sanded to fit the two different heights. Measurements are critical here.
Sorry bout that.

Re: Gentry in Colborne ON.
Neel; The cost factor was a major decision maker for me, but I've deviated a little from the deck plans, so that was also a consideration. When you see it all together you''ll get the effect I was hoping for. I would be more than happy to have anyone copy my efforts. For the brackets, I used cherry....
