Re: Question Re: Minuet Headroom?

Rob, Thanks for the quick reply. It looks like your thinking on the footwell is in line with mine. I also was thinking in terms of removable panels. My idea was to leave out the center portion of the v-birth so as to form a narrow seat on each side, then drop the filler in as necessary to extend the...

Re: Question Re: Minuet Headroom?

I am building a Minuet. The plans measure 37" above the plywood floor at the center of the cabin. I got 2'8" at the cabin sides. Add a cushion on the floor and you loose a couple more inches. Also don't forget beams going across the cabin roof for potential head bangers. I am 5' 11" tall and 34" he...

Question Re: Minuet Headroom?

The specs for the Minuet on the Glen-L site list the cabin headroom at 37" max. Is this measurement taken above the berth flat? If so, how high is the berth flat above the floors?

Plywood Coaming Edge Finish

I have a copy of Glen-L's plywood boatbuilding book, but I can't find where it addresses this question. When constructing a small boat cabin that has coamings that extend aft on both sides of the cockpit, what is the recommended way to seal and/or protect the exposed edges of the plywood? Can you ju...

My real area of interest in in the lubrication of the bottom end. I never felt good about the concept of the bottom end bearing surfaces being lubricated by the oil in the intake mixture. It sounds, from the description that I quoted from the Tohatsu/Nissan brocure, that they pressure-lubricate the ...

Questions Regarding Toshiba/Nissan TLDI Motors

I have some questions regarding Toshiba/Nissan TLDI outboard motors. I am familiar with the operation of a "typical" two-cycle motor, i.e: 1 That the upstroke of the piston creates a negative pressure in the crankcase which draws the fuel/air mixture through the carburetor into the crankcase thereby...

Looking at the other customers Two Plus,I would deduce that the one from Norway using the 60hp 4 stroke Yamaha, provides the performance you desire. Not sure if you would get the fuel economy, but this is a good size boat. Just my 2 cents Hmmm......Tohatsu offers a 50hp and a 70 hp TLDI (which are 2-s...

Two-Plus - How Small Of A Motor To Plane???

I'm interested in building a trailerable plywood-on-frame cabin cruiser that would get reasonable performance (above displacement hull speed!) on a low-horsepower outboard motor. I'm thinking about 25hp to 35hp. Initially I was quite taken with the Rabl Puffin (which promises adequate performance on...
