Re: Tahoe 20 - New Zealand Progress

Hi again. Well I did the electronic gauge self test and have a fault with the electronic speedo - dial wasn't working on the sea trial - evidently its a stepper motor failure for the analogue dial. Have to ship it to the Dealer then back to the States to the manufacturer for a replacement. Dash look...

Re: Tahoe 20 - New Zealand Progress

Hi Bob In answer to your windscreen question, I got a boat windscreen manufacturer here in New Zealand to make it but given I think you are USA based , I'm probably not much help to you unfortunately - the company do the screens for some of the fibreglass outboard boats built downunder. They made th...

Re: Tahoe 20 - New Zealand Progress

Photos of trailer extension.

I'm not going to be able to back trailer in deeper than the hydraulic reservoir though.

Re: Tahoe 20 - New Zealand Progress

A view of the upholstered engine cover. You can see the coupling of the extension drawbar just forward of the left mudguard.

Re: Tahoe 20 - New Zealand Progress

Almost there... Some more upholstery (engine hatch cover, road cover, lowering front seat bases 50mm), the extension trailer drawbar, and the fault finding on the speedo to go. Bring on summer!!! I got my inspiration for the Tahoe 20 layout from John Wright USA, who built a Tahoe utility a few years...

Re: Tahoe 20 - New Zealand Progress

Thanks Gents, Great to get all this help. I forgot about needing to disconnect the brake system to pull out the extension bar - I have the same type of brakes/hitch as ozzieboat. Spoke with the trailer engineer today and he is keen to have a 3m bar that is hinged near the hitch, and folds out when n...

Re: Tahoe 20 - New Zealand Progress

Thanks Everyone, it's great to have all the discussion and advice. Track, I presume that as my trailer is already made, I'd have to cut the main drawbar just after the hitch, weld in the smaller section and then follow on from your method with the smaller section inside the main SHS? I'm speaking wi...

Re: Tahoe 20 - New Zealand Progress

Spoke with trailer manufacturer today. Bit of an issue with having the boat mounted high on bunks vs a wobble roller design. We'll be putting an extension drawbar under the main drawbar so we can launch at shallow ramps without backing the 4WD into the water. We decided on a 3metre (10feet) slide ou...

Re: Tahoe 20 - New Zealand Progress

Some more photos from the sea trials day... I learnt a lot about the gearbox and controls given all the hassles we had. I'm still not sure why we couldn't just have used a starboard side controller mounted in reverse as it was a simple job to plug the wiring to the two gearbox solenoid plugs and wit...

Re: Tahoe 20 - New Zealand Progress

Thanks guys Yes there is just enough room around the engine, photo distorts the room though as one of the rear seats is sitting on the other one and is pulled out a bit. Half way through the build I wondered if 23 feet version would have been better, but this one carries 7 people, and will fit in th...

Re: Tahoe 20 - New Zealand Progress

Hi, I've been a bit quiet on the Tahoe build for a while. Lengthy delay with the controller as I was a bit fixed in my view about not wanting to go back to a cable gear change when we found out about no standard fully electronic controller working on the port side, but our engine installer is now de...

Re: Closed or Open Cooling

Hi Roberta, this is what I've done so far...I'm no expert. I went for a valve, filter and the Perko flush unit for my raw water inlet plumbing. The Indmar has a 1 1/4" intake hose so with the utility layout it's a tight squeeze. I've got the layout sorted, just need to plumb it in. The Perko unit ha...
