Re: Rampage Update 2017

WOW impressive numbers for 8.25 CR. You could run that motor on just about the crappiest gas you could find with no ill effects. Helps keep the costs down, a little, when you are using it.

Re: Catastrophe

just one thought about the casters. Soft rubber wheels work better then hard rubber wheels. In my experience rolling heavy tool boxes around with the hard wheels they jamb up on anything they have to run over like a pebble while the soft wheels will roll over such things. Make sure your casters are ...

Re: Time to come out of the closet, True Grit

You built a beautiful boat there Curt. Im impressed actually that it only tool you 4 years to build it. I;ve had car projects take longer than that and they of course are much smaller in scale.

Re: Best way to make frame templates

Perfect timing on the template question Nova! I'm getting ready to start the frames for the TNT very shortly and was thinking of asking the exact same thing. I might actually build more than one of these little buggers depending on how #1 turns out and it'd be nice to have a set of sturdy accurate ...

Re: Best way to make frame templates

Here's a video of Paul Miller's Tornado at G5 : V-Drive Tornado Lake Nickajack TN Glen-L Gathering 2011 I emailed Paul a few years ago after he sold the boat. I believe he hit 86 MPH on GPS on that run. ____________________ Paul Kane Kane Custom Boats Ltd. Chelsea, Quebec Building the Glen-L Hot Ro...

Re: Best way to make frame templates

I think you have to be a little crazy to want to push a flat like many of them do. Right up to the edge of catastrophe...lol. I've corresponded with a few others asking questions and they mostly seem to have that in common...lol

Re: Best way to make frame templates

Ya Paul was from Tennessee as well had a red tornado. Maybe I'm mixing them up.

EDIT: Paul Miller was at G5 with his Tornado. Found the pictures in the G5 Gallery. We are likely taking about two different boats. here.

Re: Best way to make frame templates

I want to thank everyone that offered up their advise. I have lots to think about before I decide which route I want to take. I still kind of like the idea of buy new tools though, Even if it's not truly needed for the task I tell the misses I needed it for.....lol

Re: Best way to make frame templates

Build it with a retro 60's feel/look to it. Zebrawood deck tuck and roll upholstery etc. I like it :D I rode in a Tornado at G6. I don't remember the guy's name who had it, but I know he was certifiably crazy. We had to be going every bit of 80 in that thing. I was never a religious man, but I sudd...

Re: Best way to make frame templates

A new Tornado sounds exciting! Ya a tornado should be a fun ride. I have the plans for it, the Rampage and the Rebel. I've made templates for the Reb and the Tornado. Actually even started building the reb at one point. Due to circumstances at the time though had to stop the build. I learned a lot ...

Re: Best way to make frame templates

I used plywood for the ones I did. Actually 3/4 thick Baltic birch. Then I used a jig saw to cut it close. I then used a couple of different hand held sanders to finish it. The ones I made match the patterns pretty darn close visually. The problem is this. Its next to impossible, or at least for me ...

Best way to make frame templates

I have a set of templates I made for a Tornado but I'm not totally happy with them. I'm looking for ideas/suggestions on how to make some accurate templates that I can use a shaper/router with to create the frame pieces. Any thoughts, suggestions, or musings appreciated.

thanks in advance. :)

Yes Glen-l has several different trailer sizes you can choose from I am sure one of them will be perfect for your boat.
