Re: Barrel Back Build

Thanks. Just installed the frame. A lot of measuring for sure, but I think I got it. Most important I think was the measure from stem to each outboard portion of the frame, and they are equal. Vertical was not a problem since notch is cut to a measured depth to set up level, and just snugged to the ...

Re: Barrel Back Build

Final lam for the keel is glued and screwed. Trying to figure out how best to install frame #7. Like the Vera Cruise thread, it is the most forward frame, and without the benefit of positive locators like the notches in the motor stringers. It presents a challenge to get alignment correct. Any tips?...

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

Well, for what its worth, frame 6 is now epoxied into position. It took me awhile to get to this point because I wanted to make absolutely sure that this frame was in the correct position since it didn't have the benefit of positive locators on the building form like the other frames. There were nu...

Re: Building The Vera Cruise

Looking good. I use old school chalkboards in my shop. My wife went crazy a few years ago trying to find them for me. But she did!

Re: Barrel Back Build

Well, while I'm talking to myself, I have a question.

Installing Keel to Stem, plans call for Three 5/16" bolts fastened. Counter sink them to below "V" of stem/keel?

Re: Barrel Back Build

Good tip. I almost did epoxy on of the post's. But caught myself. And I did wind up encapsulating all the frames before hanging them. Bow stem is now installed. I guess the next step is to notch the frames for the keel. http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff55/superglide56/BowStem_zps6f2a3e7d.jpg

Re: Barrel Back Build

Hi Will,

Just sent you a PM. I have frames to #6 installed, and sitting on the bucket with a beer thinking about the Stem install. I wish some of the seasoned boat builders lived next door.....

Re: Barrel Back Build

Attaching transom to form today. Not sure, but I assume I use threaded lag screws from form post upright to transom?

Are you going to epoxy frames before you hang them?

Re: Roberta's Torpedo

3/4 in blade will work fine for a 14 inch band saw. Anything bigger might drag down power though.

Re: Roberta's Torpedo

I bought the Rikon 18" Bandsaw last year to compliment my 14" Griz bandsaw. I hate changing blades.
The Rikon 18" is awesome for re-sawing with the Woodslicer blade.

When I bought it, shipping was free.
