Re: Neeley's Barrelback - Sacramento

Ok, Here's the latest progress as of last weekend. Seems like I have been working on cover boards FOREVER! I made patterns which I saved and later used to fit the sub deck, worked great! The cover boards will be screwed down with bungs over the screws, and later shaped. (similar to fairing but not s...

Re: Tahoe building cradle

Hi Bob,
I really like your design of the cradle. I need to rebuild mine, and I think I will do something similar to yours.
Looks like yours is made out of 2x6 lumber. Would you please post the dimensions, and the materials used?
Thanks,
Jim

Re: Chad's Belle Isle

Jim, I wanted to ask you what you were gluing up in your photo here? They look like what I wanted to do for engine stringers on a future inboard. Hi Dave, I am gluing scarf joints to make 20+ ft battens. I can glue up to 4 battens at a time with each jig. They keep the battens straight and in align...

Re: I'm a Boat Builder! G-L Ski Tow under construction!

I did a lot of research on classic boat decks and this is what I found. Most deck planks are 1 3/4" wide, but some are 1 1/2" wide. Most caulk spaces are 1/8" wide. Most caulk used for restoration is 3m 4000 uv Apply the caulk then apply 1 or 2 coats of varnish, then paint over caulk with white boot...

Re: Chad's Belle Isle

Hi Chad,
For my table, I constructed it out of 2/4's and a sheet of birch plywood. I used saw horses for legs. After the frames were done, I ripped it down the center. Now I can configure the table as a 4x8 table or a 2x16 table, and It stores easily against the wall in my garage.

Just sitting in my office dreaming about boats. Looking at my pictures and just realized that the chris craft cobra has a similar look to the torpedo. Thought you might like to see the pictures.

Re: New Boatbuilder - General Information

Hi Greg, I would suggest that you look at some of the builds that are posted on this website. You will see the progress of the different boat designs (the sequence is similar on all designs.) By looking at the pictures, you should be able to determine if it is something you feel comfortable taking o...

Re: sub deck question

Thanks!
Since I don't have the nails, I guess i'll use screws. Have to be careful and keep track of where they are, don't want to run into any of them when i'm installing my deck hardware.

Re: New member from Nevada City, Ca

Welcome Arjuna,
Looks like we are neighbors. I live in Citrus Heights and am building a Barrelback. If I ever finish, and decide to build another boat, it will be the boat you are building. Keep us posted. We all like looking at pictures.

sub deck question

Here's a question for you all. I am getting ready to install the 1/4 plywood subdeck on my barrelback. It will be epoxied to the structure below. Wondering if I should screw it down with the exoxy or just use the raptor brads or staples to secure until the epoxy sets. As always, your answers will be...

Thanks Rich

I joined the ACBS about a month ago. Lots of good reference material on line. I would highly recommend others to join.

Re: Neeley's Barrelback - Sacramento

Thanks Will!
The exhaust tips are from defender marine. They are made by Vetus and connect to a 4" hose so I won't have to change sizes from the engine to the exhaust tip.
