Re: how to fix this on Malihini

I`m sure you could butt on the aft side of frame 2.

Hey...Its only wood. Nothing a little extra time can`t fix. Your painting it anyway.

I made a mistake here and there too. Dang...I hate when I make mistakes

Re: how to fix this on Malihini

Wow!...that looks bad. I remember that curve on the tumblehome being a challenge to say the least. My solution was to lessen that curve on the transom and give the ply a more natural setting and smoother flow. That transom side "Hump" looked a little odd to my eye anyway. I would most likely replace...

Re: Re-Powering Zip Utility

I have that same merc on my Zip. It`s a nice light motor and gives me 26mph. Plenty fast for me but it sure is a noisy thing. Does yours make a big racket too? I don`t know much about outboards and never expected it to be so loud and annoying. I may get a four stroke if It gives me a more pleasant r...

Re: New Member from Australia

Ahhhhh...the dream of building fine wooden boats... wouldn`t that be great! I`m sure many of us have entertained the idea. The thought of having the perfect shop with all the tools and customers lined up at the door drooling over our finely crafted wooden boats. If I had a ton of money and absolutel...

Re: started making thezip

Hi there. How are you?

The Zip is an awesome little boat. I use a 25hp Mercury. It does 26mph according to the speedo. Plenty fast at 26. Scares my wife at that speed
and even makes me a little jittery.

I tow mine with my PT cruiser. No problems at all

Re: New member from oregon

Your Zip is looking great Josh. A methodical, clean work approach.

I should have considered my wiring and cable routing at this point in my build. I started
wiring after all my decking was on and it was difficult working in the forward confines.

Re: Cabrons Zip Build

Glad to hear you got all this worked out Josh. Too bad the cold season is upon us, but think how fun next summer will be! Thanks Carl. Yes, unfortunately winter is coming. I`m going to have to figure out what to do all winter. I will likely work on some of my plane models and prep for another boat ...

Re: Cabrons Zip Build

Awesome! It's a great feeling isn't it? It is a great feeling Andy that is for sure. The build is definitely the best part. I love a challenge and the build certainly offers that. Mentally and physically it was super stimulating. The build gives a great sense of purpose and offers great rewards. Yo...
