Flying Saucer & Zip Floors

Good morning, I found a nice looking latitudinal strip floor for a Zip on the forum or the gallery. Since it was about 3AM, I forgot where it was. So I cut quarter inch mahogany strips for my floor. Now I'm wondering if I can screw these to the keel and battens? Or would I be exposing the keel and b...

Re: Squirt in Minnesota

Hi Steve,

Kathy, 2 friends and I flipped it 2 weeks ago. Since then, I finished the encapsulation of the inside and I'm almost finished with the deck beams and battens. Stop over any time.

Take care,

Re: Brendons Zip Build

Thanks for the great information! I'm guessing that you guys thought of every thing. I think my plan for 3 knees and 1.5 total inches for the transom will work fine. I would have paid admission to see that solo flip. Most guys need about 8 people for that. On Tuesday, 2 of my best friends, my wife a...

Re: Brendons Zip Build

Hi Brendon,

You are doing some beautiful work. I'm wondering if you framed your transom with 5/4 boards? I'm just starting a Zip and I was planning on using 4/4 with 3 knees instead of 1. Your thoughts please.

Thanks

Re: One Paint for Above and Below the Water Line?

Good morning, We were at the Minneapolis boat show Friday and a guy mentioned Top Secret marine paint. Supposedly, it has a 10 year warranty but should last for 40 years. They also claim that it is used on ships in the US Navy ( or at least it has the same specs ). Has anyone tried it or has anyone ...

One Paint for Above and Below the Water Line?

Good morning, I am ready to start the final coat for fiber glassing my Flying Saucer. I am planning on a white hull on a boat that will be trailered. One day at a time in the water but possibly up to a week a few times. Everything I've read says that I need to use top side paint above the water line...

Re: Utility build

Hi Barnacle, I see that you had thought about a jet ski trailer for your utility. I was thinking about the Harbor Freight trailer also. However, a friend told me about Triton jet ski trailers. They are all aluminum and a perfect fit for my Flying Saucer. LED lights, built in tie downs on back and ni...
