Re: Craigslist Glen-L 21CB?
Bill, There's a product out there, I forget what it's called, that's some sort of rust converter. You first mechanically remove as much rust rust as possible by sanding or wire brush, then apply this purple substance and it chemically changes the rust molecules into something else, a hard substance ...

Re: Craigslist Glen-L 21CB?
Well, I'm now the proud owner of a 1975 Glen-L 21CB. Boat, trailer and equipment: $100.00 cash for the lot. Titling for both the boat and trailer will probably end up costing twice that amount because I have to take the trailer to the State Patrol since it has supposedly never been titled. Several f...

Re: Craigslist Glen-L 21CB?
Thanks BayouBengal. You can read my Skipjack build thread here: https://www.byyb.org/forums/showthread.php?tid=3247 I haven't done any work on it since October due to weather. Now that it's warming up and drying out, maybe I can finish what little is left to do and get it launched. I think I should ...

Re: Craigslist Glen-L 21CB?
One more thing. A motor is not included but I just happen to have a 1955 Johnson Sea Horse 5.5 HP outboard that would be perfect for this boat. The catch: It's not currently running and needs work. Any idea where I can get it worked on in the Puget Sound (Washington) area that won't cost too much? O...

Re: Craigslist Glen-L 21CB?
No pix yet but I went to see it yesterday and was able to confirm that it is in fact a Glen-L 21CB, even though the title only says "homebuilt." Same exact layout and the mainsail even has the Glen-L logo and "21." Title says the boat was built in 1975. The boat seems structurally solid but the pain...

Craigslist Glen-L 21CB?
Found a Craigslist ad for a sailboat and trailer for $100.00. Looks like it might be a Glen-L 21CB. Seller doesn't know. Claims it was built by an engineer in the 1970s somewhere in the Midwest. I'm gonna go look at it tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Re: Pondering some Amigo questions...
Not ready to buy yet, but I called the seller yesterday. He couldn't confirm that it's an Amigo although I'm convinced it is. Turns out this one has a one-off fiberglass hull. The 87 year old seller knew the builder and actually saw it under construction.

Re: Pondering some Amigo questions...
Thanks Bill. As much as I'd love to have a brand new boat that I built and customized myself, for my purposes and at my age I might have to go for an already restored and refitted production boat, probably with a fiberglass hull. Or maybe something like this: https://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/boa/5...

Pondering some Amigo questions...
I like the Amigo but if I ever build one I'll probably have a shipwright help me with it just to speed things along. I might be dead before I finish if I try doing it by myself. Anyway, first of all I'd like to find out if the design meets any recognized criteria for seaworthiness and safety, such a...

Effect of CPES on wood's reserve buoyancy
I expect this would apply mainly to plywood but may have a significant affect on veneer cold molded hulls as well. I'm curious about how much penetrating epoxy affects the reserve buoyancy of the wood it is applied to, and whether there is a way to way to quantitatively measure this. I assume that w...

Re: West Coast Builders Roll Call
Bill, thanks for the numbers. Out of the entire west coast I would have thought there would be more, especially since Glen-L is headquartered in California. Dave and Rich, thanks for the ideas. Clear Lake sounds like a great central location if enough interest is generated. But if not, and we have t...

West Coast Builders Roll Call
Okay so my recent post concerning a possible G-1 WEST garnered few views and no responses in 5 days. It seems there's not a lot of interest in a gathering on the West Coast. So I'm curious about whether there are even many builders on the West Coast. Here's your chance to go on record as a boat buil...

G-1 WEST
I've brought this up before in the context of the Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend, Washington. For us boatbuilders out West, especially in the Pacific Northwest, a trip to participate in the annual Gathering waaaaay out in Tennessee may be impractical for most of us. So I propose a west-coast ...
