Re: Photobucket mess

My blog is back on line with the photos but what a pain. The problem I have with this forum is getting the photos where I want them. Maybe it is different now but the last time I tried it simply placed the photos at the bottom of the post. Often I want text, then a photo, then text and another photo...

Re: Photobucket mess

My entire True Grit blog was using PhotoBucket. Just spent 14 hours re-linking all the photos. I know there are numerous photos one various post scattered all over this and other forums that will also be dead. Haven't even thought about addressing any of that. I was fortunate that I had all the phot...

Re: St. Johns River cruise

In the late 1990s it was taking a cruise on the St. Johns River in my 19' Bayliner runabout that convinced me I wanted to run rivers. But i needed a suitable boat. The Cabin Skiff was the answer and has set me on a journey I can honestly say changed my life. Great trip - Great memories and more stil...

Re: Modification of True Grit

As per plans the head space for the shower shouldn't be a problem as it is between the head closet and the hanging closet. There is no cover of any type there so the head room is about 8'. The head closet is limited. Mine has a raised platform of about 4" to allow a flat space for the head to mount....

Re: Another Tow Rig and Misc Photos from recent trip

Searching the web yield a WIDE range of opinions and "facts" about trailer tires. What brand is good - What brand is bad - What PSI - Rotate - Don't rotate - All Chinese bad - Some Chinese good. Trying to sort through it is like eating soup with a fork. One thing that does seem fairly consistent is ...

Re: Another Tow Rig and Misc Photos from recent trip

Lost the tire but fortunately no other damage. If you have never experienced a 10 ply 80 psi tire blow (this is my second) your missing a real treat! Sounds like a shotgun going off. A minute or so before the event I noticed something odd about the tire but it was raining and my view wasn't the best...

Another Tow Rig and Misc Photos from recent trip

Just got back from a 200 mile week long cruise with the True Grit. Always interesting things along the way here are a few that caught my attention. Always amazed at some of the tow rigs out there. The boat itself was nice but nothing really outstanding for Kentucky Lake. But the choice of truck to p...

Re: Overniter Question on Battery Placement

If it were me, I would place the starting battery at the transom. The closer to the O/B the better to keep the heavy cables as short as possible. Most outboards come with cables long enough to to this. A more forward location may require additional cable and connections capable of handling the load ...

Re: I guess it's time to come out of the closet!Bartender 24

A hand vacuum pump can often be helpful when trying to troubleshoot this kind of problem. You can test the vents and the fuel line for leaks or blockages. Can also be used to bleed brake lines. https://i5.walmartimages.com/asr/aa7ebc09-7b32-4811-9a27-1009ffaad9a7_1.785bd8c53a288e7236e926c241e8aad8.j...

Re: I guess it's time to come out of the closet!Bartender 24

I agree with KENS - IF the "Master Switch" Bill referred to is the "battery selector" and not the O/B's key switch. I was thinking of key switch that turns the engine off and on but that maybe wrong. Still don't think the problem is with the ACR though. WARNING - if not interested in ACRs (Automatic...

Re: I guess it's time to come out of the closet!Bartender 24

What I will say is I don't see how the ACR could be back feeding power. It operates on the battery side of things and if the engine is truly ON all the time the voltage is entering the harness at some point. The only place I would think it even possible is if the optional wire is run from the "SI" l...

Re: I guess it's time to come out of the closet!Bartender 24

I believe normally the outboard is connected to the battery with the heavy starting cables. From there a harness runs to the controller key switch or remote key switch if you are not using the std controller. From there the harness runs to any instruments or accs that are to be powered when the key ...

One suggestion - When it comes to setting up marine electronics I can confirm that directing a profanity filled tirade at them has no effect on their non functional status (although it can provide a certain sense of satisfaction ).

Re: I guess it's time to come out of the closet!Bartender 24

Trying to figure how a wiring error could cause this and can't come up with a good answer. I am not fimiliar with the yamaha gauges or how it is configured on your boat but am assuming the engine info reads only on command station and not the gps too. If that is the case I would think they are using...
