Re: Who's Going and Where

I plan on bringing my True Grit and staying on the boat with my wife, Noreen. Does anyone know if there is a 30 amp power connection where we will be tied up?

Re: Time to come out of the closet, True Grit

I finally got my fitted sheets for the berth and immediately made the bed. I had to try them out so I laid in bed for 3 hours watching TV. Plenty of room in the berth and the mattress is real comfy. I see no problem sleeping on the boat for weeks and months at a time. I still have a drawer to make o...

Re: Time to come out of the closet, True Grit

Thanks for all the nice comments. I did install some comfy seats as the boat will be used for extended cruising. The next year or two will be spent doing local and regional cruises where I can learn all the systems and handling the boat in different conditions. I then plan to cruise The Great Loop w...

Re: Time to come out of the closet, True Grit

The wife did not want to see the boat until it was done so she looked at it on Saturday. Her first words were "Holly Sh**" when she saw the boat. After the shock wore off, she started opening all the drawers and doors figuring out where she was going to put things. IMG_0426.JPG IMG_0436.JPG IMG_0442...

Re: Time to come out of the closet, True Grit

Mission Control, we have a splashdown of a True Grit. Yesterday, I launched the True Grit for the first time after 4+ years of building. I was excited and nervous all at the same time. I quickly found out how big this boat really is when you are in close quarters. Things went fairly smooth for me la...

Re: Time to come out of the closet, True Grit

Thank You Vince and everyone else on the forum for their kind words on my build. The project has really been fun for me to build even though it challenged my mind and patience at times. It really gives me a good feeling when visitors stop to look at the boat and walk around it with their mouth open ...

Re: Mainer looking forward to warmer days...

Hi Rene

I will be launching within the next month. Just waiting for the weather to warm up a little more. I will post pictures on my build thread of the launch with details.

Re: Mainer looking forward to warmenr days...

Great to hear that you are going to build the True Grit. As I am just finishing up building the True Grit, I am more than happy to answer any questions on the build that you may encounter. Waiting for the ice to melt, then will be launching mine. I am sure you have checked out my build pictures. Cur...

Re: I guess it's time to come out of the closet!Bartender 24

I will be the first to admit that boat wiring is somewhat confusing for me. That's why I used all Blue Seas electrical components. Their wiring diagrams showed how to wire thing pretty good. I used Blue Seas 7601 ACR and the wiring diagram shows putting in a switch to prevent battery drainage. If yo...

Re: I guess it's time to come out of the closet!Bartender 24

When I wired in the ACR in my True Grit, the wiring diagram that came with it warned that if you did not put in an separate on-off switch, the ACR would run down the batteries. Check the wiring diagram that came with yours. Mine is a Blue Seas model. Also on my master switch, there are LED lights sh...

Re: Time to come out of the closet, True Grit

Greg I will try to explain what I did. The plans for the True Grit show a length of 27' but I stretched the hull to 29'6" so the transom is at the 29'6" location. I then added a 24" swim platform to the hull that follows the same bottom and side lines. I built the transom just like I was going to at...

Re: True Grit

I built my True Grit with three major cruising goals in my mind. Cruise the Great Loop, cruise from Seattle to Skagway, Alaska and explore the Bahamas islands. I think all three of these can be cruised with the True Grit by watching the weather and properly equipping the boat. Check out my building ...
