Re: Alternate Inboard Power?
Would have to have one that is set up for gasoline or diesel as Natural gas has a much smaller energy density, thereby requiring more fuel volume for the same output power.

Re: La Paz modifications
What you are suggesting is a minor modificaton and performace would not be affected substantially by it. As an example if ypu build the 100 gallon fuel tank as suggested the boat will change in weight about 600 lbs from full to empty. The designer has suggested an engine hp range that is sufficient ...

Re: Cooling on mahogany inboard boats
Either is possible, the closed system like Bill described or an open system that uses raw water. In a closed system you will have to plumb in an expansion tank to hold excess coolent (water, Naacool, ect.) and the system should be under positive pressure (expansion tank is higher than the rest of th...

Re: Starting my first build with a jet TNT
love the lines plan, in regards to the battery location and maybe you have considered this already, but what about building a small hatch and fixing it down with the hood pin tie downs like those found on classic drag cars. I dont think it would take much away from the look of the vessel but it woul...

Re: Modify bow on jet cat/aqua cat?
Catamarans are quite stable and I would think that you would be able to take her out there (maybe not sin sea state 4
) Again I think the flare is quite possible. The further offset from the original lines you go the more care you will have to take to maintain faired lines.

Re: New Design for Consideration
Looks to me like there is not a lot of margin on the GM especially with such little water plane for a displacement hull. Don't rock the boat.

Re: Modify bow on jet cat/aqua cat?
My qualifying question would be what exactly is the change you are looking to accomplish? -The upward flare of the sheer that starts around midships? I think this could be done with care, it may or not be as simple as extending the line of each frame up a few inches. the sheer line should be a fair ...

Re: 16' Scooter Question(s)?
You will still be able to push her with a 25 HP Merc, granted not as quickly as the 120 that it is rated for. You may know this but incase you dont, FYI older engines were not rated at the prop like newer outboards, so that 120hp when the vessel was designed would be less at the prop. Most vessels c...

Re: Making progress on my Monaco.
I also had something similar on my first car. I thought it might have been the MAF as well to begin as I had an aftermarket air intake on my sports car. I had 2 mechanics look at it and the code that was given was a problem with the #3 Coil Pack (each spark plug had its own individual coil) I swappe...

Re: Raptor, nails or staples
Dont know if anyone else here has seen it yet but Senco brand also just came out with polymer nail and staple guns as well. the brad nailer was about 190 on line. I was thinking of pulling the trigger on one of these as well since it is half the price of the Omer brand. I checked locally (New Orlean...

I definitely plan on starting a thread once I start building. I am more of a professional lurker on these forums at this point  Hope to start my build soon (within a year). Wife wants a few things made and done around the house, and more importantly trying to evict Sally Mae  I am doing ...

Re: Tahoe 23 prop size?
Brad, I have not personally used it, but Delftship program has a free version that supposedly has some basic hydrostatics features. You should be able to take your offsets and create a model of the vessel and then get the displacement of the vessel at the water line. Adjusting the waterline up every...

Re: 20ft Texas Barrel
While the model images are not directly a barrel back it is still a barreled stern that is assembled in the same way as the barrel back. Hopefully these help somewhat until some one who has actual assembly photos of the transom barrel stern.JPG In the below photo I have tried to show what the built ...
