Ahhh, the floor timber. Missed that on the plans. Thanks all. No doubt, I'll be back.

Thanks again.

zip: frame 51/2 sits too high

Mounted the frames on the form today, all looks good except frame 5 1/2 sits too high in the 3" notch at the front of the form. looking at some pictures on youtube, I see other builds where 5 1/2 doesn't appear to be sitting in a notch and everything lines up. What's going on ? Any help appreciated....

Re: Question about ZIP keel

The slots for the keel on the frame plans measures close to 1 inch. The text says keel is 1x4 inch.

Question about ZIP keel

Having trouble finding full 1 inch thick lumber for the keel. I have access to 3/4 " Sapele that I've been using for frames. Does any one have any suggestions ?

Thanks.

Re: Question on Zip transom

Okay I see it now. Great help, thanks. Did you glue the frame members together or wait and attach directly to transom ?

Question on Zip transom

On the zip plans, I see the sides and bottom members of the transom frame, but not real clear if there is a top frame member. If there is it seems to taper very thin at the center.

Any help will be appreciated.

Zip Material Length

The ZIP bill of materials calls for some 16 ft material for sheer clamp and chine log, but I'm having trouble finding good lumber at that length. Is it possible to splice two pieces together ?

Thanks.

Re: No Set up LIne on Plans

Okay.. Noticed a line labeled "setup line" on sheet 2. The Pattern Instructions that came with the plans says, on the Layout Board, "... draw a horizontal line that represents the reference line on the patterns, either waterline or setup level. Couldn't find a similarly labeled line on sheet 1. this...

No Set up LIne on Plans

Just received my plans for the Zip and I can't find the setup line on Plan Sheet 1. There is an arrow pointing at the top of the bottom of frame 4 but no title. Is this the set up line ?

Thanks in advance.
